Welcome to Mexifornia.......where we celebrate Cesar Chavez day and Dia De Los Muertos rather than the good ole holidays like presidents day.

Google Cesar Chavez Detrich......

...I guess the easiest way I would describe him is similar to how Martin Luther King brought about support for blacks, Cesar Chavez fought for the immigrant farm workers. At least, this is what little information I have gained from my limited exposure.

I know I was talking to Speed about this....he didn't get Martin Luther King day off, but he does get Cesar Chavez......huh? Why does that make any sense?

César Estrada Chávez (March 31, 1927 – April 23, 1993), born in Yuma, Arizona, was an American farm worker of Mexican descent, labor leader, and civil rights activist who with Dolores Huerta co-founded the National Farm Workers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers.[1] Supporters say his work led to numerous improvements for union laborers. He is considered a hero for farm laborers, and opposed both legal and illegal immigration to help keep wages higher and improve work safety rules. He is hailed as one of the greatest American civil rights leaders. His birthday has become a holiday in eight U.S. states. Many parks, cultural centers, libraries, schools, and streets have been named in his honor in cities across the United States.

...interesting - and so TRUE!!! I wonder how well known this little fact is....especially right now. So by eight U.S. states recognizing this as a holiday and gov't agencies (such as the county of san bernardino) recognizing this holiday does this mean that they are supporting anti-immigration laws?

ok ok ok - just kidding!!!

I second the "just because" day

I'm going to chime in because I didn't know anything about Cesar Chavez at one time.

I for one, am completely opposed to Mexifornia. What use to be a melting-pot is turning into a melted quesadilla.
I've heard the name Cesar Chavez all my life, because since we share the same 1st name, people that lack originality, think it's funny to say stuff like, Julius Caesar, Caesar Salad, and Cesar Chavez.
My instinct, and ignorance, told me not to like this Chavez guy because he's just turning this place into Northern Mexico, but it turns out it was quite the opposite.
As SnowFl8k pointed out, he "opposed both legal and illegal immigration to help keep wages higher and improve work safety rules."
He's actually born in the US, and though his parents were from Mexico, he fought for the rights of American farm workers.
He led strikes and protest at farms that hired illegal immigrants instead of paying hire wages to Americans.
The reason California celebrates this day is that we are the largest agriculture state. The work he did, probably did more for California than any other state.

^ hahahahahahah

it's exactly ***-kissing reviews like THAT, that make bmw raise the price tag on the 1. one good handjob deserves another i guess.

i'm sure the 1 is a fun car etc etc. just that it's SO far from being what i would consider a viable alternative to the 3. it's fugly AND it's expensive. way to go bmw.
