So I have been searching around the forum about my engine light. I found this thread that talks about the possible issues and a most likely issues O2 sensors.
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/intermittent-p0171-178008/
Anyone how I figure the other causes have been delt with (plugs, coils intake). I foudn that there is a bad cat enginer light code and considering the car is working fine most of the time how can the cat be bad? So here is my question I have the racing beat intake and when we installed it one of the hoses we just zip tied off is there a proper way to install this and hook up that left over hose? Maybe there is a vacum leak through that since it has eventually becasoem odl and cracked?

the CEL for the bad cat is kind of hit or miss on our car (as in almost all cars) It really only looks at temp and what is flowing through the exhaust and isn't the most accurate thing in the world.
I've had 2 cats go bad and never got the CEL.
As for the leftover parts from the RB intake, it is not the problem. Most of us have those disconnected, it deals with the VFad and it can't cause a vacuum leak.
My bet is there might be a vacuum leak somewhere else in the car or you have an O2 sensor that has gone bad, most likely the front one.
I am THAT guy

Ever since reconnecting the battery at SS by engine light has not come on. Put 100.6 miles on it and took it to the smog place...Pass! Now to get the carb certifed sticked from RB and install the exhaust and check the cat or and install the fluids.

2011 LA Auto Show - Anyone intrested in going?
Tickets are $12 in person and $10 online. You can get $8 tickets any day before Thanksgiving or $6 tickets on opening day (Friday), see the link below. The 19th works for me. The 20th also works but only half a day since I have to pick someone up at the airport.

Michael: I think I'm going to miss this year's Auto Show. ![Frown](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I was hoping to go on Sunday but I leave for vacation on Tuesday and just way too many things to do before then.
No 'fitment testing' this year.
