I wish that were true. Given the current (and over exaggerated) condition of the housing market right now, work is fairly overwhelming at the moment. Our company is very solid but we're making changes very rapidly to "adjust" to what's going on out there; hence the 10-12 hours days right now.

i look at zillow each day and my property has dropped over 60k just over the past 3 or 4 months... <sigh> oh well, such is life i guess... i think i'll most likely rent it out rather than sell... condos seem to fluctuate the most with the market...

MALIBU!!!Seriously we need to have once last malibu cruz before I sell my car. I been taking my friend to the Malibu Cruz and she's enjoyed it but I wanna show her how it used to be. Lets get 15+ RX-8's and represent one more time. Yeah theres cops everywere but we don't have to drive fast we can just be ballers and kick back. Maybe we can do one more photoshoot at the "Rock". Just a thought.

I am down - even WITH my beat up piece of ****. It would have to be soon though - as it looks like Casey's baby is going fast. And definately just a nice steady kick back cruz - We will need to make sure EVERYONE understands that before going.

Get tired of it?! Of I am going to put 25-35k down on a car I am going to make sure I like it. Like it enough to keep it for a while. I had my 240sx for 8 years. currently right now there is no other car i would want that is afordable besides the 8. but as the saying goes, to each his own.

Some people get rid of their cars because they have to. Some people get rid of their cars because they get board. I personally know a few people that literally get a new car about every 6 months. (sometimes faster). (Jesse, you know who I am talking about)
I to don’t know why you would want to get a new car that often. when you buy new you loose so much money just driving it off the lot. now when you buy used, its not such a big deal. but man these people that buy new cars then trade them in for a different one is a little dumb to me.
Now with that said, people do change as well as their "priorities"
I don’t think your picking on me here, or at least I hope your not. I don’t even think you intended those comments for me, but just so you all know, this was not a quick or by ANY means an easy decision for me.
When I got the RX-8 I knew really no one in the car world anymore (after turning the RX-7 into a race car, and having it out of commission, the street car crowd of mine kinda died)
So I got the RX-8 with the intention of having a rotary again, having a nice daily driver, and simply having a pretty car. (so to speak) I wanted to do body kits, and all that fun look good stuff.
Then I got into auto cross and the performance of the car started to mean more to me then the looks. dont get me wrong, I wanted to make my car look good as well, (which I must say, I think I did a damn good job) but I was/am becoming more worried about how the car handled, and how to lay down power.
At one point I decided I wanted to give up the car that you could spend a lot of money on and not make much more power (the 8). I wanted a "monster". this is when I wanted the Evo. same price as the 8, but faster by far on the street and track.
as you all know the reason I did not go through with it is because making the switch would not have improved my financial situation. all I would have done is make the payments go from paid off in 2 1/2 years, to paid off in 5-6 years.... this does not help me much when we are looking to have kids in the near future. (our goal is to have Michelle stay home and raise the kids…. This is something we both want, we are not big fans of letting baby sitters and day care take care of kids. A mom should be a mom.)
so I decided to stick with the RX-8, I mean hell, its not like I am unhappy with the car, it looks hot, and "it goes like stink" (to quote the guy form top gear).
but now I am finding myself more and more in a financial pickle. the new house is a bit more then I can chew. the fact that we want kids in the future "hurts" that much more. the car "needs" some more work to it to make it faster (yes mostly driver skill, but coil overs would have been nice... and I never even had an exhaust). I am at the point that I just cant afford to do anything else to the car. it has been at a stand still for a year now.
as I said before, it would be nice to be able to go do things again, not be in such a financial crunch.
so I am left with the option of A, keep doing what I am doing, option B, Sell the Cobalt and drive the RX-8 everyday, or Option C, relieve $700 a month that only gets used a couple days out of that month.
Option A, though nice, does not help me what so ever.
Option B, gets rid of a $250 payment, and what ever the insurance payment is. Yeah that would help, but then I am driving my nice car that gets crappy mileage again. The RX-8 literally cost me TWICE as much to drive. And that does not count tire wear that I experience due to the amount of camber I run (yes I could always take some of that out). And with the 60 mile a day drive, this would also lower the value of my car as I would be racking up the mileage. Being as this would only free up ~$325 I don’t really think this is a great option for me.(and that’s not be counting the doubled monthly gas bill.)
It seems Option C is right for me. Stick to a gas friendly car, and still relieve $700 a month. The Miata thing is simply a back up plan. I still get to go fast (wickedly fast) and I wont have the monthly cost.... I can afford to go to practices again, I can afford to take the car to the "real" track again, I can afford to go to Vegas again.... I cant tell you how much I am looking forward to financial release.
Am I “board” of my car? ……. No way.
Do I "WANT" to sell it?..... Not way.
Am I going to miss the 8?..... you bet your ***.
Is this the smart thing for me to do..... well duh..
Am I going to enjoy the financial release……. Oh yeah!
Granted I know how to drive, am I going to enjoy being one of the fastest cars on the track? ……………. Oh FU*& Yeah!
In case there was any question, I hope this helps everyone understand why I am doing what I am doing....
EDIT:
HAHAHA
so who wants to buy a Miata and join me?......
For the curious people, the Miata I am buying is a 90 with a 99 engine in it. Stage 1 clutch, light flywheel, Header, and a Mazdaspeed clutch type LSD. besides the engine, all parts are brand spankin new.
(I of course still need to add the struts, springs, sways, and tires.)
it will be running tires that are ALMOST the same size as the RX-8!!!!! talk about a fun ride!

nor were my comments aimed at you speed, i understand that you are moving on for different reasons its just many people in the community in general move on to the same stuff (payments, type of car, etc). I think what you said in the first paragraph hit it right on the money, they get bored (JUST CRAZY!).
So how about a maliby cruz for 2007!?
