they're a vendor here, just check out their sub forum at the top of the home page. There's a thread about their stage 1, stage 2, and stage 3 turbo systems.

....in summary, Let's just say I learned a lot in this experience.

clutch failure, warranty, extended warranty
so then I was thinking about getting the full manufacturers extended warranty out to 100k miles it was going to cost me around 2700, would you say I would be better off not getting it and saving the money in case somethine goes wrong with the car? I am close to 50k right now and after that I have the 75k extended powertrain warranty.

Given that we both know you will be modding your vehicle you may want to consider that you would have to return your car to stock prior to taking it in, and that may be more hassle than it is worth. I would suggest not getting the warranty, and I believe most people would tell you it is crap.

The Saga Continues

So, I was called yesterday and was told the car is being put back together and will be ready for pickup. This was Wednesday. I reminded him that there were three other service request issues that I brought the car in for, and was told the previous week, on Thursday, that those could not be checked until the transmission was back in the car. So I questioned, "So my car is being put back together now, but you'll still have time to address the three other issues". The reply was "Sorry, forgot about those, come and pick up your car Thursday. He also informed me of the "discount" they gave me for the service. The initial estimate being 1241.00 (just to tear down the transmission, not to reassemble)....he told me the total would come out to 1141.00. Not the figure I was expecting, as I know they didn't spend much time taking the trans apart....and they charge 75 per hour for service. I explained that I was not happy with that figure and wanted the service manager to see if there was anything else he could do.

Got my call today, that the car was ready. I asked about the charge, and there was no change...it was still 1141. I asked about the coils, and he assured me that they were fine, that the tech hooked up a computer while driving the car and they were fine.

I go to pick up my car, asked for it to be washed, as I anticipated a long discussion with the service manager. I got to the dealer around 5:00 but all the techs, and the service manager left at 5:00. So, while I'm waiting for the car to be washed, I am going over the list of things on the work order, asking him more about each issue. I asked about the coils and how they checked them. He said that when he talked to me earlier, he was wrong. They are able to hook a computer up to the Buicks, but not to the RX8. I asked, well, how were the coils checked. He said that they checked to see if there was a CEL. I then showed him copies of my dyno graph, showing the coils failing above 5000 rrpm's. He said that Mazda would not replace the coils, unless there was a CEL, and the Mazda's response would be that (even with shown engine power loss), that the coils were operating properly.

I had asked them to adjust the clutch pedal to within spec, since I have to push the pedal through the floor for the clutch to fully disengage. He said this was not done.

I asked about the slave cylinder, because I was concerned it was failing. He said that unless it was not working, it would not be checked. Nothing was done with it.

I then asked for the "flag" hours for the trans. I was recommended to ask for the "flag" numbers, and was told that these are the actual hours that are logged by the technician when working on the car, they prove how much time was spent on the job. He said that there was no way to get that type of info, that they are not logged in that fashion. I asked, "is there any way to see what was done on the car...is it written anywhere, what was done". He then took me inside to see the paperwork. He hands it to me and it says 15 hours.

It also said that 2nd gear was replaced....what? I wasn't told anything about this. He claims that he had told me this....I remind him that when he spoke to me Wednesday, he made a comment that the transmission was causing them problems on the reassembly, and when I questioned him to be more specific as to the probelm....as I was under the assumption that the bell housing was removed, and that it would just need to be reattached...that nothing else was touched. He said, what his statement ment, was that they couldn't get 2nd gear to work, so they replaced it.

I then asked...how much am I being charged for a new 2nd gear. He said nothing...and that it was a used gear, not brand new.

I asked, how do I dispute the charges at this point....nothing I could do then, but talk to the service manager the following morning, Friday. I decide to pay, with the idea that I would dispute the charges...first giving the service manager an opportunity, with the anticipation of having to fight with corporate, or at least a regional manager.

I get my car back, start it up. Feels weird, as it has been about 3 weeks since I've sat in the car....having driven our lifted S10 automatic the last couple weeks. Nice to be in the car though, I actually had the smile back on my face. I pull out and I notice a slight whine...a weird noise I have never heard before. I drove to the first intersection and decide to turn around to take it back and ask about the whine....sounded as if they forgot to put gear oil in the trans....really7 bad sound. I turn around, but realize, there is no one to address my concern with...so I just turn around, knowing that I would be at the delareship the following morning anyways.

Get on the frreeway, I test 2nd gear. I rev it up, and it is strong. I have a big smile on my face. This is great, a basically new feeling second gear. Continue to speed up, all the gears are strong. Shift from 5th to 6th, and just can't get it in. Make four consecutive attempts ot get it into 6th...and it just isn't there.

WTF
I immediately call him and say, I can't get the car in 6th. He said, "you didn't read that on the work order". I reply "WHAT". "Yes, we couldn't get 6th gear to work, we noted it on your paperwork"

I have a car with no 6th gear. I find out later, with Cesar in the car, that I barely have reverse as well.

I will be at Mazda tomorrow morning

....to be continued

WTF, WTF, and WTF

Sorry to hear that KW. I've been convinced that dealers are dumbshits.

I just had my car in for 40k service and to fix the tail light. They offered 2 new headlights as well. Of course I get the car back and on my first night drive notice one headlight is basically pointing at the ground. You'd think it'd be obvious to align the lights after putting them in. Oh well, car's going back again.

I know it's nothing compared to your issues...

dealer, dumbshit, keith, owned

I took my car to the dealer because of a check CEL light, the retarded dumbnut that was their "chief engineer" told me that "that is bad, the car might be failing" so.....in all good manner, I scheduled an appointment with the dealer (where I bought the damn car) and with only 1k on my car (at 2.2k the engine was replaced because the second cylinder misfires) I went into the dealer he plugged the computer in, checked the codes and said......"OMG! you have abused your car haven't you? I know you have taken your parts out and haven't done it properly" so basically he said that my O2 sensor was "MISSING"

.............missing.......my first reaction was, wtf? then, maybe it went loose? then, wtf again

anyhow he said that he was gonna have to void my warranty because I "meddled" with the car..........**** ****!!!
anyhow, so I said, I'll bring the car back later in the day for full checkup

being the crazed rx8club lunatic that I am, I immediately went on my computer and found the code he was talking about on the tech forum

unscrewed my gas cap, rescrewed it reset my ecu

never showed up again, drove it 200miles after that now, nada

so anyone wanna go to puente hills mazda?

How many cylinder's does your car have?
Maybe that's why they replaced it. You got an 8 w/ cylinders. That would be the ultimate Mazda screw-up.

Norco Mazda is where I bought my car. The previous service manager is a ******* *******, and the current one.. well let's just say he likes his people skills a bit too much, and he tries way too hard to be convincing. The service department took 5 times to figure out that my tire sensor was faulty, and the car and light were ON when i took the car to them.

Only two dealers I have worked with have been Romero and Puente Hills. Puente Hills was the one that dented my rear fender and then denied doing it.

Romero has been relatively good. They broke my sunvisor, but fixed it after only a little **** and moaning. This is a little of a bigger issue.

Results from this morning. I spent 2 hours speaking with the service manager. We were not able to come up with a resolution to the trans issue at this time. I suggested calling regional rep to get some advice in how to proceed. I am trying to be as calm and relaxed as possible. I want things to work out for the best, and be reasonable.

We went through many different scenarios, and ultimately he asked "what do you want". I told him, I don't even know what to ask for, but I cant accept the vehicle how it is.

Basis of what he was saying, is that he was under the assumption that I just wanted the car back, in "driveable" condition so that it could be driven to my house, to sit for when I had the time and money to replace the transmission. I told him, yes, my intention is to put in another transmission, but that I expected to receive the same car that I dropped off....you know, the onle that is driveable, doesn't have a large whining noise (which he suggests from hearing it this morning are bearings), and the one that grinds in 2nd, 3rd and 4th at rpm's above 5500. This is not the vehicle I have, I have one now that I can bearly get into first (this is a new problem), and one I can't drive on the freeway since I am running in 5th, at around 4k rpms just to be at 64 mph. Try driving the 15, 10 or 60, or even the 210 at 64 mph....I probably will get shot.

Car is sitting in the garage now. I went to go to work but cant find my garage keys to get the truck out....so I guess I will just sit here all day, worrying over one of my babies (since my other baby is working right now), play some xbox, and go have a comfort Mountain Dew....a BIG one. Erica has already agreed that it would be ok, thanks babe.

Mountain Dew, Big Gulps, Taco Bell #1 combo, xbox 360, Lost Planet

man keith sooo sorry to hear this and it hurts just to read all the troubles that we owners have with dealerships. They basically crewed up a car worse then when it was roginally brought in. They arent going to do anything about it? I know mirna just went out of warrenty on per protege5 so we sill start going to my mechanica if anything happenes to that (not romero) and hopefully i can get through not taking my car in except for like tailight leaks etc. my car just turned 24,014 last night.
