I thought it was interesting that my insurance rates went up when I moved from Fullerton to Fontana. They increased by 238 dollars per year, and it wasn't related to my increased daily driving (mileage)..it was directly tied to my damn zip code.
Oh, but now I'm a better driver, they rewarded my money back when I informed them I was now married.....I guess I would save more money by returning back to Fullerton....or just getting out of Fontana...but it is all just crap anyways. 14 years of paying 800 or more per 6 month period. I'm the same person, same driver......
..ugggh, just frustrating and rediculous. Even if I said I only paid 1000 per year....which I have paid more, but is just easier for math sake. I've now paid over 14000 dollars in premium, for what.....not even a cool bumper sticker or even a single rate reduction. Instead, how do they reward good drivers, they raise rates slightly so as to make you call another company to get a better rate. Just dumb.

i think we're required to carry insurance for legal reasons. the state insurance commission made it a law, and we live in a society that cultivates & monetarily rewards people who actively pursue lawsuits- regardless of the actual merits or claims in the cases.
just about anyone (legal or not) can sue anyone for whatever reason or cause- so long as if they find the right scumbag lawyer. and, just the threat of a lawsuit can be enough to turn your life upside down and make you fork over money...
u guys are totally right though. when u factor in the premium + deductible, it's almost a wash.
i too have been hit many times before by other people. and, as long as my car was repaired and nothing major happened, that's good enough for me. i don't feel that someone else's mistake on a bad day = an opportunity to get rich quick for me. but, try counting how many bus advertisements or tv commercials you see that encourage people to call an attorney because of a traffic accident.
we're all human and all have our good/ bad days. and, sometimes accidents happen. to me that doesn't justify milking the system to get money for no reason. but, our laws are setup as such. go figure.

Question... My 8 I have not started in about 2 weeks. This sunday I tried to start it and nothing. In my head I thought jump start it and it should be fine. Nope... The engine is wanting to start but it sounds like I have no compression. Could that be the reason? When I called the dealer they told me that the engine is flooded and that to bring it over because to unflood the engine it would be a long process. What could this problem be?

Than happened to mine after a month of not driving it.
The battery was fine.
Keith helped me push start it, that didn't work.
I just kept cranking and cranking and it finally turned over.
If you've never had the flooding services done on the car, that may be it, but at least try to crank it for a while.
Worst case, you're battery will start to drain, then you can stop, but it may do the trick.
BTW - it took about 2mins of cranking in 30secs chunks for me to get it started.

the more things change
yep i've flooded twice . once on a bad battery and the other
from not running the car right after starting it.
there is a fast way to get it going. this i found out this sat.
there is a connection that you can unplug that will keep
the air flowing into your engine that will help dry out the gas,
and you also have to hold the gas all the way to the floor.
this cuts the gas flow completely i was told by the service tech.
the connector is on the passnger side on top of the strut tower.
i'll see if i can find a pic somewhere...

the service tech. said if you unplug this connector then your car
will not take as long to start. but you still need a good battery.
he said this keeps the air flowing into the engine. you can replug it
when the car feels close to starting....
