@ keith or casey. How long does it take for the concrete finish in your garage to dry (befroe you can drive a car on it?) was there a required installation temperature, right now my garage floor is pretty cold but i wonder if that would or wouldnt matter for adhesion.

and I quote, "Furai Concept and 2009 RX-8
HIROSHIMA, Japan, December 12, 2007 - Mazda Motor Corporation will showcase the world premieres of the Mazda Furai concept vehicle and the heavily revised 2009 Mazda RX-8 sports car at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), to be held in Detroit from Sunday, January 13 through Sunday, January 27, 2008. On the heels of its show-stopping debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show in October, the Mazda Taiki concept vehicle also will make its North American debut, the first time it has been shown outside Japan....."

"2009 Mazda RX-8

Sporting a freshened design, improved handing, acceleration, quality and features, the 2009 Mazda RX-8 continues to be a “Sports Car like no other,” and shows that the rotary engine is still an important part of Mazda’s future.

Since its launch in 2003, the Mazda RX-8 has been hailed as a genuine sports car, but with a totally new, four-door, four-seat format that delivers sports car values, passenger comfort and driving pleasure. Powered by the world’s only mass-produced rotary engine, RX-8 is the spiritual successor to the 1967 Cosmo 110S, the world’s first twin-rotor production car. With almost two-million rotary engines sold, and the company’s legendary win at the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans – the only Japanese brand to ever win the endurance racing classic – the rotary engine is the sole preserve of Mazda."

yes.....cold or damp conditions will extend the time needed for the material to set/cure. 48 hours for walk traffic, a week for car traffic. What I did was move everything to one side while I did side A, then after 72 hours, I moved things back to side A and did side B. 72 hours later, moved things back to where they should be....and I could park on side A. 3 more days until you could park on side B.

Hope that helps.

Make sure you put a tape line down where the garage closes...cause you don't want to put that stuff on the portion of the garage floor that extends tot he driveway as the stuff doesn't weather real nice in outdoor conditions. Just put the coating on the floor that is inside the seal of the garage doors. (hope that made sense).

umm... so were the spyshots of the 2010 rx-8 fake then?

honestly, it looked almost identical to our cars. and, i was really disappointed to see hardly ANY body changes. under-the-hood was all speculation anyways. so, i couldn't really comment on that.

no, they're not fake. The 2010 spyphotos are actually of the '09 'face lifted RX-8'
The car is currently using some body panels from the existing 8 but if you look closely, the lights are changing, it's getting new front end, supsension is being upgraded, and I think theyr'e re-gearing it. (since Mazda made mention of improved performance)

right. but, overall, there is nothing dramatically different- ie the 8 still keeps it's overall shape and styling., which is kinda disappointing considering it's 7 years old... so i guess the rx-7 is going to get the kabura body styling then and we get shafted?

yeah, the 8 is keeping it's current styling. It's pretty in-line with what Mazda has done in the past with the 7's. Keep the body styling the same for 5-7 years with minor changes along the way (convertible, turbo, colors, etc etc). After 5-7, drop the model line and introduce the next generation a year or two later.

its a face lift more then a redesign so it should share much of the design queus. if you check some of the body panels behind the masking look very similar the the MazdaspeedII rx8 concept.

I put the T1r's in the same category as the Kumho MX's. The SPT's are nice but they're not as performance oriented as the MX or the T1r. (GREAT DD tire though)

if Mazda does what they have done many times in the past, it will be a facelift. parts that are simpy replaced with fresher looks.

on the first gen seven they changed the tail lights after 1 year, then changed a couple other small things.

on the second gen 86-91 was the same generation, but it was split up into two series. in 89 they gave it a face lift which was new front bumper, rear bumper, mirrors, engine stuff (like compression and intake manifold... oh and computer) basically thay re did the car, but left the same over all shape.

the third gen did the same thing, in 93 they released the car and pretty much kept it the same. in Japan (they no longer imported them here) they had a face lift which included a new front bumper... etc.

I suspect they are doing the same for the 8.

what funny is when you really get into these cars, really got to know them well, you will find the little unspoken changes. like on the second gen, they really did change a lot from the 86-88 (S4) cars to the 89-91 (S5) cars.

in the RX-8, Yellow was ONLY in 2004, white did not come out till 2005, they played with colors alot. the washer bottle in 04 was black, in 05 they switched to a whitish clear. in 04 the key was a key with a seperate FOB, in 05 they made the switchblade key. in 05 the shinka was black cherry ONLY, in 06 and 07 it was more then just the one color.

Mazda has always played with little things through out a production run, but for the most part they keep the same basic design for several years with a face lift half way or so before REALLY changing it.

1st gen 79-85 (7 years)
2nd gen 86-91 (6 years)
3rd gen 93-01 (9 years) (I think it was 01)
RX-8 04-08 (5 years so far, its time for a minor face lift. being as they are just now doing the face lift in 09, I would not count on a moajor redo till somtime in 2011 or 2012.)

The Toyo T1R's are supposed to be one of the best tires for our cars.
I've never bought them, cause they are pricey.

That being said, I'm happy w/ the Kuhmo SPT, and at those prices it's a $200+ savings.
Do you really need that kind of tire for your driving style? Seems like overkill, but then again, this is a guy who has 2 - JLW6's in his trunk. (overkill is not a concern)

I think the Toyo's are probably really good, but by the time you add all the extra cost of mounting/balancing, it's almost $250 more for that route vs. the Kuhmo SPT.
America's Tires usually gets close to the Tirerack price, and for $10/tire, they do everything.

If you save the $250, that's more than half the price of an Xbox360.
After you get your PS3, and are sorely disappointed and bored playing alone, you'll have most of the money for the xbox.

I agree with the Kumho SPT's great tire for the money!!! I paid $87 a tire for mine. (from Tire rack)

Is the SPT a good tire.... YES its a great tire.

are there better tires out there.... YES.

Are those better tires going to cost a WHOLE lot more.... YES!!!

Is it worth the extra money for the street.... Not to me.

the those better tires going to wear out faster... YES.

EDIT: I see the SPT has gone UP in price..... now its $90 for the SPT I had on my car. (225/40ZR18 by the way, I saw no need to go wider and pay more when its just a street tire.)

i am keeping an eye out for a good tire since my stock are done to 15% maybe and its nice to have a back up set with good rubber especialy since i have two sets and tire places charge a heck of a lot less with out the balenceing part. but then when, if i do sell my current wheels my stockers will be ready.

Americas Tire will match any bodies online price + whatever that online company charges you for shipping. That was how I got the Nitto's on my stock wheels. THey even matched the price whenthe online company was having a 'no shipping charge' sale.

Not too shabby. Plus you get to check out the tires before they put them on the car. And if I ever have a problem . . . they have a store-front right here in town

me & overkill???? NEVER!!!
I was planning on getting some more Kumho's (either MX or SPT) but I just couldn't say no to the Toyo's at that price

Not always. I've had them match tirerack before but it depends on the tire, and their internal costs on that particular item.
On Emilie's truck, I've gotten price matches without an issue
On the Kumho MX's I put on last year, it required the approval of the Regional VP. (which was a royal pain in the *** to get)
