Clutch bracket
Well, here are pics of the bracket.....this metal, after holding it, is REALLY thin.....REALLY thin. This is definately going to be an issue for everyone regardless of your driving style. It WILL break.

whoa.
I tried looking at mine yesterday but I still can't quite figure out what the heck I'm looking at. Maybe these pics will help.
If not, I volunteer Keith to help me check mine at the next meet. (bring the piece with you)

sorry to hear about the buyer keith... there will be others. where u advertise seems to make a difference also.
we advertised our TL in san gabriel and didn't get any bites. soon as we listed it in OC we got tons. the buyer actually works in san marino- which is like 5 minutes from us.
go figure that one out.

To make up for the issues, MS is going to give everyone w/ a Gold account a free XBOX Live Arcade game.
The issue is do to the huge influx of online gamers w/ the recent release of COD4, and people who got xbox's for xmas. (Notice that's XMAS not PS3MAS there's a reason for that

Anyways, no such issues over in the PS3 world, because there are probably more people viewing this thread right now than you would ever find online w/ PS3 to actually play against

Booooo I was typing about XBL and free arcade game and stuff and just scrolled up a bit and found cesar beat me to it.
>:O
That clutch pedal bracket sucks... When you depress the clutch do you force it or anything?
Or would you say throughout the life of it you pressed it normally?
Cuz... I like to practice my heel-and-toe (just cuz its cool) and I'm wondering if excessive heel and toe-age will cause mine to break as well... ouch.

@Jedi (and everyone else)...I'll put the broken bracket in the car and take a pic so you can reference your own pedals. It is a difficult thing to see given the angle that you have to take to look up there. That may help.
@ Detrich...there are two breaks on the bracket. I'll see if I can highlight the areas and post another pic. The first break resulted in the loud squeak I was hearing in the pedal when I took the car down prior to Christmas. They adjusted the pedal, basically bent the bracket making it weaker...assisting the snap of the larger portion of the bracket.
@Beagle....yeah, took Casey and I an afternoon to beat the game on Normal mode.....took me another two weeks to finally beat the game on Veteran mode. Check my achievements....have only one left to go on COD4 (980 out of 1000). Try a level on Veteran

Circle.....I have almost 80k miles on my car, most of the driving is on freeway. Asking a question like "do you push hard on the clutch?" is liking asking someone if they push a brake pedal hard. A pedal shouldn't brake.
I was talking with one of sales people as I was walking back to my car with the broken bracket in my hand. He asked what I had and I showed him. I explained that mazda wasn't going to cover the damage...and he said, "well, you have to realize that the Rx8 is a big drift car and that Mazda sees alot of damage to the 8 because of this". I laughed at him and said the 8 is not a drift car. He then tried to give me all the examples of RX8 drift cars. I then said, how many of those use the stock Renesis engine. His response "none". I said, "well, there you go....now why would mazda deny this repair.....knowing that I do have a stock Renesis engine..." The conversation got worse from there, but it was a funny beginning.

^^ i feel ya keith.. although i havnt experienced it, thousands of evo owners have...mitsu dealers will do anything they can to void evos warrenties.... if you put suspension on your car and the motor happens to blow, and you take it in, they will say it caused it, and void the warrenty....... stupid crap like that.....
i actually think my warrenty is void.... i went to the dealership to get some touch up paint, (back when i had the exhaust on it), and when i came out, and guy in a tie was just leaning up from writing what looked to be my vin #..... im guessing he was keeping a record of my car being modded

LOL @ Keith's convo with the salesdude.
But yeah, you're right. Under no circumstances should a drivability part break because of a little "spirited" driving.
I was just asking if you drove it a little hard because of the fact that since we have these weak brackets already installed in our cars, it could be possible to break my own.
Keith, why do I no longer see you on my XBL friends list?

I think it might be because he's had 2 hard drive failures on his Xbox recently.
