Distance was never an issue.
Keith said "the Lancer (which I think looks cool but may be inconvenient to own since there are not that many dealers locally to get warranty work done)."
His concern is having to drive far everytime there is work to be done.
Not driving far for a purchase, just service.

I think everyone is missing the point - I am not sure where this discussion about driving to a different dealer to save money came in.....but let me explain something quickly about convenience of buying close.

Keith will be driving this vehicle about 100 miles a day. The dealer warranty will most likely run out before three years (power train that is). For this reason we are looking at purchasing an extended warranty to ensure we at least have coverage on the car while we are making payments on it. Here is the snag. As it stands now - if you go to a different dealer than the one where the warranty was purchased you must pay a deductible - usually between $100 - $300. This has just been our experience with extended warranties. Therefore we can take a train to another dealership to save $900 ($1000 - trainfare) and then spend close to $900 in deductible fees when things begin showing wear and tear. So really - for us and our situation - convenience is better.

I agree. Didn't think we could get much better than invoice. Last 2 cars we got at invoice + some spare poker money, never thought I could get lower.
Tell us more...

there is a development down the street that i guess has made soeem people mad. Grading just started. We are buying one of the buildings at the site for our new office. we have no connections as to how the developer does his work but since we are buying on of their builds the people out front think we do not support immigration / union laws or something like that.

Loren, let them know I don't support immigration and send them to picket around my house. If you could also let them know my brother supports loose gun laws, has an NRA sticker on the back of his truck and that he is planning on coming down today. Oh, and he said that he hasn't had any time lately to go target shooting.....

On the issue of distance....yes, what Cesar and Erica stated is what was in my mind. Buying local due to the extended warranty is a must (This has to do with Mazda since I will need to purchase an extended warranty)....buying from Mitsubishi will create some problems because the closest dealers are Riverside, San Bernardino, Puente Hills and Whittier. Puente Hills is right by my work....but Erica, as well as others (I think Razz) have questioned whether those dealerships will even continue to exist given the number of dealership closures for Mitsubishi.

I was kinda bummed when we went to test drive the new Subaru, and found out that the dealership in Ontario no longer exists....its a Volvo dealer now.

Big NO to Carmax.

The way I see it, I would rather keep the 8 than to give it to the dealership for anything less than 17k. It is worth more to us than that, would put us in a big hole and is not realistic. I'm not going to bend, or feel like I have to buy anything right now that is no where near the 48 month term or the 400 month payment I want. I think the last offer was 70 months at 478....I just laughed.

Again, they are the one's that approached Erica and I...they are the ones that told me what they would sell the car for...and I have bought two cars from them. I have reasons to beleive that what we want is reasonable....and it may become a reality if they fall short of their 90 car goal.

Haha...

They made an adult version of the Penny Racers.
Some of you are too young to remember, but back in the early 80's, they had these wind-up toys called Penny Racers. You basically pull them back along a flat surface, and let go, but, if you put a penny in the back of the car, they would do wheels and tricks.

Not if it is a factory extended warranty. EVERY factory authorized dealer NATION WIDE MUST honor the warranty. (Period)

Now . . Some dealerships do purchase warranty services from outside warranty companies. In which case, only the dealer that sold you the warranty can do warranty work. Any other dealer will still get their money out of the warranty company, just not as much $$ as the dealer who sold it to you therefore they have to charge the remainder to you.

You never asked.
My buddy is a manager at Turner's Outdoorsman so I'll be going 'shopping' in the very near future. I've been giving a lot of thought into a CCW

VERY tough to get in Cali.
Orange county did give them out, but that was while Marshall Corona was in office. And we all know what happened to him recently.

I had one several years ago, just for the heck of it, but it ran out after 2 years and I never renewed it.

So what kind of gun are you going shopping for?

I shoot a custom Kimber (1911) target .45acp. So, of course, I needed to get the other 'cold war' side arm. Thus my case includes a Makarov (9x18) also.

You know anybody who wants a PRE-ban Walther P22? I was one of the 260 something people to get one before they made them in to a solid barrel. Can you say 'Silencer' . . . ..
