I think they changed it! I tried doing that a few minutes ago and it didn't work. Before, you'd click on the little icon of the world with the chain link in front of it and it woudl prompt you for: 1) What you want it to display 2) the link.

HA, figured out how to do the link thing. (had some help)

Loren: click on the globe icon, paste the URL, click okay. Your text will automatically be highlighted, start typing what you want it to display. (don't click away, just type) Click okay....done.

Wow, you guys are chatty! I had a great time on Saturday. Thanks Loren for getting everyone to wait for me and thanks to everyone for waiting for me. Looks like you guys had a great time afterwards too. I'm so sorry I had to miss that. Oh well, at least I got to cruise.

Well, since you brought it up, check this out.

www.wednesdaythemovie.com

It's a kind of artsy/fartsy film. It's only 9mins long, but it's got a nice ending.
Made by a 22-year-old film student in LA.
If you watch it, it seems kind of slow, but in the end, it makes since.

Looks like it's time for a brake job on my RX-8. Any suggestions on brake pads?

I'm going to leave the stock rotors in, I'll probably just get them turned.

OEM pads:
Front Pads: $79.41
Rear Pads: $ 48.44

Is that the cheapest?
Considering you don't track your car, I'd go w/ the best price.
The OEM pads are decent.
Hope you're not paying to have them installed. It's pretty easy.

I got those prices from www.onlinemazdaparts.com (they usually have the lowest price)

I'll be doing the install myself.

Dealership charges 82 dollars to check the CEL...since my car is no longer under warranty. It is possible that my extended warranty service plan will cover a portion of that. I will see Speeddemon this weekend, and he has the Can Scan. So, we'll check the code and see if it is something needing Mazda service work on. I have a feeling it may just be the gas cap CEL. It may also be a sensor CEL as well, as they may have forgot to hook something up on the transmission swap...or, it may be related to Coil failure. (I'm hoping on that one, since they didnt perform the proper procedure when I originally took it in with complaints of power loss.

Brake Pads...go with the stock pads. No need to do anything more. I didnt turn my rotors on my first brake change, but will definately need it on my second.

yeah, I'm strongly leaning towards the stock pads.

Is the CanScan the same as the Scanalyser thing?

I 3rd the stock brake pads.

unless you are tracking the car, there is no reason to go to a "better" pad. most "better" pads are a higher heat reange pad. meaning they dont work as well on the streets when cooler, but work better in higher heat situations.

even us autocross guys stick to the stock pads since we need stoping power right out of the gate.

Denward would be about the only one of us that I would recomend better pads to. but only on the days that he tracks the car.

Other pads will just be too harsh on your rotors. This is what I have been told. Now, there are plenty of options if you do a track day...but no need for anything beyond the stockers.

I believe the Can Scan and Scanlyzer do the same thing.

I am not sure what the scanalyzer is.... but yeah. it pulls codes. allows me to watch in real time what is going on with the car. very cool, just wish it was a little more reliable. I have had many problems getting it to work. if they came out with a CANScan 2.0 with all the bugs taken care of it would be awsomeness.

I ran Cesars car a few weeks ago when he had a code. it was a Multiple missfire code. I cleared it for him. (Cesar it never came back did it?)

I totally missed where you said you had a CEL.
It might be something as simple as mine. It just mis-fired at the dyno, and it only happened that one time.

Are the coils covered under the "recall" extended warranty?
I'm going to take my car in for the fishtank issue, AKA rear light fills up w/ water.
There's a service bulletin issued for it on 4/13/07.

By the way, there is a bulletin regarding ignition coil inspection issued 4/30/07.

Yeah, I had a CEL flashing the entire cruise...up the mountain. Now, the light just stays on. Prior to the cruise, the week I picked up my car...I went to fill gas and my cap fell out on me. So, I am assuming that this is the reason for the CEL....

...I'm hoping it is the coils though, cause I would like to get new ones, along with new plugs and plug wires. I'm not certain whether coils are included under the extended warranty service or not.

I posted that coil bulleting a couple weeks back...along with two recalls related to the clutch.
