Hello everyone!

I checked my email this morning and I had this letter in it from Erica. I thought I would post it and let you all know how their trip is going .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..............................

HELLO FROM BELGIUM!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are currently on day four and we are on our second stop in Bruge, Belgium. The hotel in Brussels was very nice and we spent two days there. It was within walking distance of The Grand Place (the main square with town hall). Did not do much but walk around and take in the sights and culture. Thursday morning we hopped on a train for Bruge. I shouldnt say hopped since it took us a while to figure out how thetrain stations work - very confusing. Once on our train - the conductor went to stamp our ticket - mumbled something and walked away. Come to find out we were on the wrong train! She printed us new tickets that allowed us to take a train BACK and then get on the right one. Everyone keeps saying you have to read the sign - but the signs give you the FINAL destination and none of the numerous stops in between. Oh well - we made it! eventually. Now we are in Bruge and this place is amazing. Nothing has changed since 1500. Really. We will be here one more day and then hop on a train for Amsterdam Saturday. Then on to Englands Lake district from there. We are trying to give it a few days for the rains to clear up. Have you guys heard about all of the flooding there? We will be in touch again - probably Monday.

Love you guys

Mr. and Mrs. Wescott
(still getting used to that)

ps - feel free to forward to anyone who might be interested

ACK! my car wouldn't start this am. weak battery me thinks... called dealer this am and they said they'll "split the cost" of a new battery for me, so i can go in 2morrow am to get it changed... <sigh>

i know, i know- this is no biggie and hopefully the new battery will take care of it. it's just that this has been the week from hell at work- a LOT of systems failing for no apparent reason, and we've been working our tails off. so, this really rattled my feathers this am when i was all happy to drive the 8 into work... just had to vent a bit. thanks for listening.

Detrich: did your car come with the upgraded battery? (for the flooding TSB?)
How long since you started the car?

i just drove it last week. on average i drive it once or twice a week. so, i was surprised. i know for sure that this time i didn't leave anything on that would drain the battery. (ever since the trunk incident, i've been very good about that.)

is there a noticeable difference between a flood vs. weak/dead batter when starting, and what should i look for?

i noticed when i turned the key to start the car it made a loud choking sound that usually is what i hear when the battery is weak/ dead. most of the electrical stuff was still working fine- alarm, lights, cd player etc- so the battery didn't look completely dead.

i've never experienced a flood, so i'm not sure how to exactly tell.

definitely sounds like a battery issue. If it were flooded, it wouldn't have started at all.

I would mention it just to be on the safe side. Tell them you did a google search for "dead battery RX8" and it came up.
