we were in San Diego today, autocrossing. The next event is the 11th of August. It is an evening autocross event at Fontana speedway. I don't know if it is open to those without Cal Club points cards. If your interested in this, let me know and I can send you to the right web site to get your paperwork together.

Alright, does anyone know who might own a silver RX-8 in San Bernardino. Whenever i go to work at the Inland Center Mall i see it parked on the 2nd level of the Parking Structure.

check into the "Walnut, Diamond Bar...." thread. They have meets every once in a while. Never been, so I don't know what they do there.

You could also check into the Monthly SoCal RX meets in Tustin. First Saturday of every month.

San Bernardino may be far, but it may be worth your while to come out once. We have a lot of people that enjoy rotaries and we always go on a cruise. Meet and greets get old after a while.

Also, the main meeting of rotary enthusiast is coming up in October. Seven-stock 9. This will be at Mazda Headquarters in Irvine. Your neck of the woods.

So, I am curious guys. I am in the process of saving up to get an 8. Do you think it is a bad car for me, if I will be using it to get to work, school, and getting up the mountain aka to Crestline?(Not on snow days because i dont wanna die) I mean i would be using it to for fun and educational purposes, since I am ******* dumb and dont know completely everything about cars. Well hope to get a response from you guys.

I won't respond to the Viper comment, but I will say that the 8 costs me over a grand a month to own. If you have that kind of extra money lying around, than the 8 is a fun car....if not, you'll be pissed with the car and frustrated that you can't do anything to it.

Na I was joking around about the Viper comment, trying to see if I could get him to say something but yeah. 1k a month, huh? Just curious but why might you think that it would cost that much to own? I mean for me at first, I wont be adding any mods to because i wanna get a handle on the car and pretty much get use to driving stick because I only done it a couple of times.

i would say you gotta figure the loan payment between $300-600, the insurance more like $100-300, and the gas $200-500 (depending on what you do with it), and finally after a while the mod itch gets to you and it might be roughly 50-150 a month. just depends on your situation...am i forgetting anything? (regular maintance!) I pay roughly just under a $1000 a month on the car, maybe less then that but it is easy to spend more then that.

This car deffinitly feels different then any other stick, and i had a sporty car before this as well. so test drive one and figure the type and distance you will be driving.

My car payment, since I bought the fully loaded 8 with 0 down is 671 a month, and my insurance (even though I am 30, have been driving since I was 16 and have a perfect record) is about 130 a month....but what kills me is the gas bill each month. I drive 30 miles, one way to work.....and with the triple-ing of gas over this last work year, my gas bill has gone from 230 dollars a month, to nearly 600.

Lesper does not pay as much each month, because he only drives like 5 miles to work....and I think he also puts in mid-range gas. I still use premium and get the best gas mileage of everyone in this thread I believe. I get (on average) about 290 per tank. Take Speeddemon's average, driving all city streets....of less than 180...and you can see how gas bills can add up on this car quickly.
