Hi, I'm looking into getting my car done up with a teflon bonding process called "Tech Formula" from Car Salon. They're located here in San Diego, currently on Miramar Road (I understand they recently moved). They told me that they've already done the process for other RX8s as well, NEbody on this board?

FYI, it's an 18-step process that bonds the teflon to the paint - 6 year warranty without any follow-up or maintenance requirements. They claim to have been in the business since 1980, voted best detail in San Diego, etc. The process takes 3-4 hours.

Why do you feel it is necessary?

Paints are pretty good on new cars so the "protection" offered might be a waste of money...

Then again, I paid over $100 for some pedals in my 8 so what do I know...

 

I know that these teflon coats work wonders, but they're usually part of a slilcon blend that is gone after a month or two. If they can give me six years of mirror-like shine with nothing more than a rinse every few weeks, that might be worth a bit of scratch.
