Sevenstock 11 *NorCal* Caravan

7stock is schdeuled for September 27, 2008.

We will meet up in Hayward, CA for a late night Caravan at 6:00p, here are the details:

Meet up location:

Starbucks on: 245 W Jackson St, Hayward, CA
Leave at 6:30-7:00p

We will take Jackson Street (92) north for a quick fillup and contiune to Foothill Blvd (238) to the 580E.

From there we will take the 580E to the 5-S to Socal.

The drive should take about 5-6 hours with about 2-3 stops in between. Once we get to SoCal, around Midnight (Hopefully) we will go our separate ways to get some well earned rest and meet up with the SoCal caravan at 5:00a on 9/27/08

Details for Socal Caravan: https://www.rx8club.com/west-rx-8-forum-34/sevenstock-11-socal-caravan-143489/

If you guys have walkie talkies we'll set the channel to 12.

For you guys in Tracy/Dublin/Etc, instead of you guys back tracking, you can meet us on the freeway when we get on the road and we can caravan all together. The traffic in that area isn't the greatest to make an extra stop.

have you done the 880s to 101s to the 152e (through gilroy and los banos) to the 5s .. that is a very nice drive and its not that much difference in time.. but it would use more gas.. (more hills and turns)

^true.. but i think flying is less tireing.. but you maybe save 2 hours at most.

2 hours from house through security to plane
1 hour flight
1.5 hours getting off plane, getting lugage, waiting for ride to hotel or getting taxi and going to hotel
timeless... every minute of the car show
***wishing you had your car at sevenstock***

lol..

anyways.. anyone else gonna sign up????

Here is the maps from the last couple of years, I put in new times though... see what you think, but it puts us in much earlier and missing all the LA rush hour traffic:

Tracy rest stop (south bound I-5):

THis is the first rest stop you get too after the I-580 South and I-5 south merge.

Leaving the Tracey South bound I-5 Rest stop at 06:00AM.

First Leg
Total distance to drive 'til next stop: 38.1 mi
Estimated time: 34 Minutes

Depart on Local road(s) (South-East) (0.1 mi)
Merge onto I-5 (37.4 mi)
Turn RIGHT onto Ramp towards CA-33 / Santa Nella / Gilroy (0.4 mi)
Turn LEFT (North) onto SR-33 (0.1 mi)
Keep STRAIGHT to stay on SR-33
Turn LEFT (West) onto Local road(s)
Arrive at Santa Nella For Gas up and meet up with any late South bay and Mid bay drivers.

Exit I-5 at CA33
Rotten Robbie's truck stop west of fwy.

2nd Leg
Leaving Santa Nella at 7:00 am
• Total distance to drive 'til next stop: 99.3 mi
• Estimated time: 1 Hour, 26 Minutes

Depart on Local road(s) (East)
Turn RIGHT (South) onto SR-33 (0.2 mi)
Turn RIGHT onto Ramp towards I-5 (0.1 mi)
Take Ramp (RIGHT) onto I-5 (98.1 mi)
Take exit 309 for CA-41 toward Kettleman City/Paso Robles 0.3 mi
Turn left at CA-41 N 0.6 mi
Turn right at Bernard Dr 259 ft
Turn left at Dana Cir
Arrive at Jack in the Box/ Kettelman city around 8:30am

The Jack in the Box at Kettleman city off ramp, is a huge parking lot, and there are at least a half dozen gas stations within the two blocks. It is also the cheapest gas for around 150 miles.

Third Leg

Leaving Jack in the Box/Kettleman city off-ramp at 9am.

• Total distance to drive until next stop: 91.8 mi
• Estimated time: 1 Hour 31 minutes

Head south on Dana Cir toward Bernard Dr 187 ft
Turn right at Bernard Dr 259 ft
Turn left at CA-41 0.6 mi
Turn left to merge onto I-5 S 90.7 mi
Take Exit 219B for Laval Road
Slight Right on Laval Roard
Turn Right on Dennis McCarthey Road
Arrive 10:30 AM

4th Leg
Leave 11:00 am
Take I-5 South
Take exit 171 toward Rye Canyon Rd
Turn left at The Old Rd
Arrive at Old Road Gas/Food stop at/around 11:50am.

5th leg:

Leave Old Road at 12:30pm

• Total distance 'til Hotel: 76.5
• Estimated time: 2.5 hours (with traffic) 1 hour 19 minutes without traffic

Head northwest on The Old Rd toward Exit 171
0.1 mi
Turn right to merge onto I-5 S toward Los Angeles 75.2 mi
Take exit 95 for CA-133 S toward Laguna Beach
Keep right at the fork, follow signs for Barranca Pkwy and merge onto Banting 0.7 mi
Turn left at Barranca Pkwy 0.2 mi
Turn right at Pacifica 230 ft
To:

Doubletree
90 Pacifica
Irvine, CA 92618

Arrive at 2:00/3:00PM (depending on Traffic) This should miss most of the LA rush hour traffic

If you have never been to Seven stock before, the line up and entrance is one of the great automotive events to watch. All the rotary powered vehicles and a few piston head conversions (that their owners-can't read or understand that pistons park elsewhere) all drive in from the staging area... hundreds of rotary powered vehicles all driving in line and in formation and back into parking spots (if you can't back up, practice until you are good or don't get into the staging lines). Quite a sight!

Line up info for Saturday Morning.

.
Seven stock parking for non rotary vehicles and people that want to leave before 2PM:

Once the line up and drive in is done, the layout looks like this:

Too bad it's not a holiday that Friday or I would love to leave early. I use 12 becuse the first rotary was the 12a... JK, I had better luck with people not using that channel. I hope more people sign up, if not I'll hand the torch over to someone else and I'll just fly.

Yeah, we have done the Friday Mid-day run for about the last 5 years and worked out most of the bugs. Two years ago we had over 50 cars (mostly RX-7 and RX-8) at one point in the Caravan, but last year it was closer to 35 most of the way.

If it was just myself, I would just make the kettleman city stop, as I can make it without re-fueling other places, but many of the people with heavily modified cars can not.

rx8spiritr, i think everyone should go, even if their car is cosmetically not perfect... as long as it runs, bring her along and track the gas milage... im sure you will have a better ride because you wont care about bugs and dirt... everyone else will be paranoid as ****.

Just do what all the bimmerfest guys do when they caravan, tape up the front end of the car with interesting patterns/lolfunny stuff the rocks from the road suck.

and rx8spirtr if I had the money to buy that body kit I'd jump on it so fast...esp since I'm very local

I might be down if I can get off of work.
