SF Bay Area Open Invite: karting in Fremont
It's been too long since I've gone karting. Unfortunately my wife is preggers so I can't kart with her. Therefore...
Open invite to join me karting this thursday (7/22) evening. Meet at Le Mans Karting in Fremont at 7:30pm. For those who haven't karted before I'll give a short lecture on driving technique. It's $20 for a 10 minute open practice session. After practice we can get together again to continue discussing driving techniques and our experiences on the track. Maybe an optional second session for those who want to further refine their technique.
Le Mans is having a July promotion where every new person you bring in gets you one free practice session. Come join me so I can get lots of free sessions. :D

Nineteen views but no reponses? Sounds like no one's interested in karting this week.

Its a bad day, for me work till late, but is that the indoor one with the cafe on top where you can see the whole track? Last I went I did not fit into the jumpsuits, I am too tall.

The one you're referring to is SpeedRing. Owned by the same people but that's in Santa Clara. I haven't been to SpeedRing in a few years; at the time I found they were way more strict about rules/regs than Le Mans. Which is odd since they're owned by the same people. Go figure.
Oh, one big difference between the two tracks is surface grip. I found you can actually drift at Le Mans, whereas I couldn't at SpeedRing. It's fun to do but it isn't necessarily a faster way around the track. But neither is it appreciably slower either.

For those unaware, Le Mans is having a July special where you can buy a card good for 10 practice sessions for $80. That's $8/session which is less than half their normal $20/session cost. What a bargain. If you have any interest in karting I strongly recommend getting one. The special only lasts until the end of this month but the ticket is good longer than that so you don't have to worry about it expiring.
It was a lot of fun. I've karted there many times but this was the first time my back ached afterwards. Definitely have to do this more often.
