Thanks Dozer,
I've actually been lurking in this forum for the last several months while doing research on the 8's. Read all the stickies and other members experiences and issues, and even a bunch of the 'how too's so I felt I was well prepared to make my purchase. Thank's for everyone's input on this site, there's a bunch of great information here.

As far as my 8, I absolutely love it, this thing handles like a dream. It seemed like for the 1st week, I was discovering another great feature about it everyday. The only thing I am having a problem with is breaking it in gently. Oh well, it will be worth it. Another problem is my commute is only like 6 miles, never though I'd say that was a problem.

Took me a while to find one with the options and a color I wanted. Not a whole lot of 2007 models left out there. A couple dealers have had 2008 models come in but they are far and few between right now, not to mention no dealer incentive or rebates on the 08's.

Anyway, happy motoring. Hope to see you fellow 8's on the road sometime.
(sorry if I hijacked this thread)

Sooo..... I've finally narrowed a few things down! First of all I'm getting AT for sure as it would just be much more practical for me (yeah yeah, flame on! ).. Second of all, I'm most likely getting an '04 or '05 since I'm somewhat on a budget... So, that rules out 6speed Auto '06s, since I've only found them for 20k minimum with Sport package only, and I'd prefer to spend under 18k.

I've basically found 3 vehicles, and most likely going to purchase one of them soon, here are the details:

'04 Black (with black/red interior) Grand Touring with just 17,000 miles for $18,000... This is probably the one I'm leaning towards (I like black), but it is from a private seller who I can't seem to really budge on the price... Everything looks good except slight squealing brakes when braking slowly, but I sent him the bulletin service notice from Mazda to get that checked out ( http://www.mstore2000.com/PDF_Files/04-001-06-1568.pdf ).

Next one is a White (with black interior) '05 (but a very early one, 9/22/04, so I believe it needed recall work) with Grand Touring package and 29,000 miles for $17,500ish...

And the third one is a Silver (black interior) '04 with Grand Touring package and 25,000 miles for probably under $18,000....

So... anyone have any thoughts? What if I could find an '06 for $18,000, but only Sport package? I think I would pass since it's still Automatic, and I guess I don't care as much about the 6speed AT over all the extras of a GT, although it would have longer warranty...Hmmmm.....

And... If anyone has unlimited Carfax I'd really appreciate any assistance on checking 2 of the above.

Long post sorry, Thanks guys!

I've tried for a while, and I can't find AT '06 for that low... Maybe I could get one to like 19.5k, but I'd still like to keep it at 18k or under.... And those '06 have Sport package, so nothing in them at all as opposed to the GT '04s I'm looking at... If I could find an '06 for 18k with Touring package at least I'd definitely get it... But also, I'm only looking for black/silver/gray/ maybe white....
