Kinda sucked today: 60.0 dirty, 60.9 clean. I'm reasonably happy with the 60.0, that's about a second off Jason's pace if I remember correctly. Just need to clean up my act. Downshifting back to 2nd entering the slalom was fun.

Also rode with Gary T for the first time. It was actually kinda boring, showed me that it really is all about being smooth.

Yeah I was a 58.9 and I think Jennifer was a 60.4 clean. Still trying to figure out this data system.

That's what happens when you're a cheap bastard.

I'll think about getting one for next year. Would be nice to see where I'm slow. Would also be nice to have the same one you got, so we can compare data easily... but we'll see if you can actually get it working first.

big field in BSP....not a lot of competition though....(in looking at MP5's times as comparison)

Yeah kind of like cal club. Maybe someday when you get over the idea that your race tires will die on the freeway you can play down there to. btw the 60 mile drive home did not even clean the tire turds off.

p.s. 2nd place in BSP was an STU car with R tires and 3rd was an AS car.

Hey, that was actually a pretty good run (60.0). No major mistakes, just a slalom cone here and there and a mysterious 3rd cone from somewhere. The first run DNF where I got loose and had to skip part of the last slalom was much more exciting.

Turns out the Data system was not the problem, it is the HP PDA that is kicking my @ss. I got our runs downloaded and was able to lay them over each other. I would say if you are going to buy a serious system you need one that has built in video. You really need a picture to make full use of it.

I am also going to try mounting it in the center of the front window next time. Not a big deal but I had it in the back window pass side, instructions say that is ok, but I think it can fool the map due to the tail of the car not being on the same path as the front wheels.

MP5 or SPT05, what do you have to say on this issue. Both of you drive your race tires to the track and mount/dismount them.

What's the matter, don't trust ULLLOSE? The main reason I haul my tires to the track is that I live in an apartment and it's a PITA to change them here. It's actually easier to pull my car up next to my place, and load them up. When I finally get a place with a garage I will definitely be changing them at home. At least for the SD events.

Isley drives on his and seems to get the same amount of runs (or more) out of his tires than I do, so I don't think wear is an issue. I would be a little concerned about puncturing the more expensive race tires on the 100 mile trip though.

Yeah ask the newbies .... I have only been driving on mine for 10+ years, even before they were free. I even use to drive on the old Hoosier A3S03 that did not have steel belts and a small rock or pot hole would destroy them.
In 2005 when Jennifer was pregnant we had to drive home each night from San Diego during the tour so we would be near the hospital. At the tour with 350 cars on Sat, some with slicks some with street tires, there was a lot of built up old rubber on our tires after we ran. Drove home sat night and back sun morning. I then had to barrow a torch and putty knife from Jeff Keisel to melt off all the tire turds that did not wear off after the 120 mile round trip.

The part of your race tires that you wear out when you race is from the center out, ask mp5 where his last tire corded, when you drive on the freeway due to all of you static -camber you are only on the inside edge of the tire. Think about what part of you spanky$$$$ 19" that are wearing out, bet it is the inside edge which you will never wear out on your race tires.

I know guys that have driven from here to Natl events in Norcal and AZ on race tires.

The only thing you do changing tires at the track is add to the work you have to do race morning and then you have to worry about your stuff laying around. Can't tell you how many times I have seen mp5 late to grid because he is still changing tires.

They can be patched just like a regular tire. So as long as you dont damage the sidewall you are fine. I would bet KWs 19"s cost more than his V710s.

not that anyone cares, but my street tires are $87 a peice from tire rack! this is why I suck with crappy 225's. with the tons of negative camber I have, I didnt want to have to worry tooo much about destroying expensive street tires.

damn.... those volks are WAY to much. I thought I was hot **** when I was bearly able to afford the Enkeis.

18" Axis with tires ($1,300) (19" staggared was a big price differance)
18 Enkeis with race tires ($2,100)........ I thought they were more like $2300???

I got mine for cheaper than Goodwin Racing price....remember, cause America Tire screwed up my stock wheels...I got them for $250 each.

I don't get it, which side of the argument are you on? That is just another reason to change them at home and drive down to SD on your race tires.

I posted above that I wanted to come down to SD to run the event with you guys. I was planning on driving down with my Volks, and changing my tires there...like we did when Casey and I came down with his car. We changed the tires, and left his Axis laying around.

I was hoping to have you guys down there...and maybe I could put my Volks in your car while I ran...then pull them out to mount them back on my car. But I noticed that BS ran at the end of the day, so you guys wouldn't have even been down there.

I guess from what you guys are saying...it is fine to drive from Fontana to SD on the Race tires....so in the future, I would just drive down there on the race setup....leaving my Volks at home.

we'll have to find a time when PAX or SM are running around the same time as BSP...cause I alreayd have a co-driver for BSP.

This event won't work well cause BSP runs first and PAX/SM run in the last grouping.

Co drive down in SD would be nice...but it won't help me with the practice I need on my setup.

Which event is that? Both the Nov and Dec events have PAX running right after BSP.
