Recap of 2007 RX8Cup rules/scoring:

BS: SCCA stock class rules.
BSST: SCCA stock class rules with the added restriction of 140 tread-wear tires, consistent with the Cal Club and San Diego street tire class.
STU: SCCA STU class rules plus allow BSP legal flywheel/clutch upgrade.
BSP: SCCA BSP rules plus allow SM/STU legal wings and body kit (aka bling mods).
SM: SCCA SM rules, any RX8 with forced induction, motor swap or interior removed beyond STU/BSP rules. We can also full on race slicks.

Index:
SM-raw time
BSP-.99
BS-.975
STU-.965
BSST-.94

Based on a SM car running a 60 sec run that allows a BSP to go .7 slower than SM.
A BS car gets a .8 cushion on BSP.
STU gets .6 on BS.
BSST is 2.3 behind BS.

Is everyone good with that? Do we want to offer a separate Ladies cup?

I used BS as the point for both STU and BSST because it is the only class we are not making up or moding. But you get the idea, a STU car can go .6 slower than BS and BSST can go 2.3 slower than BS and still be even.

there are practice events for December and January.....these would give you the best opportunity at preparation for the 2007 Cup. Maybe we should stick with the 8's for the PFM practice in January...instead of the "Enterprise Cup" that we talked about the other day.

"Enterprise Cup"...was an idea of putting a limit of 45 dollars on rental cars....everyone could rent a car under that dollar amount and compete for times....just was an idea.

he he he.... funny Cesar!

yes, I am happy with those indexes and rules. is everyone else? sounds reasonable, and fair to me.

and IF Cesar were to SC his car with street tires, that would still put him in SM. his fault for not upgrading tires also. SC is a big enough mod to not just "overlook"

figured 45 dollars for a rental car was less expensive than tire wear using our cars.

The cup rules are all greek to me.
I agree because I have no idea what you're talking a'boot'.
I'm sure it will make sense after I race a few times and pay attention to it.

The Enterprise Cup would be fun.
Keep in mind, Hertz has Miata, and Budget has Cadillac CTS.

now the question is: does everyone just rent a car and show up that day with their 'secret weapon' car?

OR

Do we stick to a similar class / style to make it more competitive?

The 2007 rules look fine to me. Long weekend in Tucson was the reason I wasn't there Sunday bringing up the rear.

I say, just show up in your secret car. I'm thinking about "renting" from my dad.

If you want to find out who the best driver is you all need to rent the same car, or just rent one and share it. best thing to do is find one that none of you have driven.

Back in AZ I had a buddy that was in town on business so we all split a time only entry and each got one run in his rental car, you also had to haul the other people in the car with you.

thats awsome! that way the car weighs the same no matter who drives.... meaning I dont have a weight dissadvantage to erica driving the same car.

he he he.

I would think the same car would be the best.

That's actually a pretty good idea.
We rent a few of the same cars.
Split the rental cost, and take turns driving all day.
We would save money on the rental, and if we split the driving, we could pay half price.

Then we'll see who's king!

rick, I added sft05 next to your name, do you have a car number for CSCC? or do you run temp numbers when you come out?
