i had my spark plugs and wires changed out by mazda under warranty about 2,000 miles ago. I'll tell you what though, it'll make things much easier if you completely take off your intake tube and the rubber accordian style boot. Be sure to unscrew the MAF sensor as well. I took all the coils out at the same time instead of 1 by 1 so make sure you mark your spark plug wires so you don't get them mixed up. I just used a piece of tape and numbered them =) .

damn, sounds like something that needs to be done....but with the Racing Beat intake, this install would take several hours. Even to remove just the RB filter box would require the removal of the front bumper, removal of the Cold Air Duct, and then reaching into the box to remove the two bolts that attach the box to the frame....

I may need to get in there to remove the box anyways, as I was stuck in a severe sand storm and probably have a bunch of sand in there anyways.

Deeddub, did you follow a DIY, or is it fairly self explanatory?

it's not necessary to remove the intake. it is not underneath the intake. it is under the intake air hose that is connected before it. remove the pipe from rb that contains the MAF sensor and then the rubber air hose. it is right under there.

Peter, bring them over Saturday and we'll see what we can do. If you don't mind us learning on your car, it would help Speed and I with this if we determine that ours are bad. Heck, if yours are in better condition that the ones I have, maybe I'll just put yours in mine....as I can assume that after 67 thousand miles, mine woud be worse than your stock ones....especially with the type of driving I do on the weekends.

its not to hard to do. I have the HKS Racing suction intake kit so it might have been easier for me. I didn't take anything out at all. I loosened up the main intakle tube and sorta pushed it off to the side. The hardest part is removing the electrical connector (don't know the technical term for it) thats connected to the coil. Thats about it. Space is real tight down there so if you know someone with small hands that will be very helpful. EVen my small *** had a hard time removing it. Maybe NGO can take pics of his when he does it today!!

This 17 car dyno day is going to produce a lot of numbers, charts and debate....do we have a clear idea of how we are going to present all the info. I would assume we will post results in the horsepower section. Are we going to have access to web based graphs, or are we going to have to scan and paste paper versions of our runs.

I anticipate this being some very valuable info for NA guys on the forum. A thread that will be stickied and discussed for some time.

I assume Deeddeub will start that thread the day of the meet? Or soon after. Are we going to follow any plan in how we develop that thread?
