Well, its not exactly backfiring, you don't want that to happen with a rotary. Byebye apex seal!

Its just unburnt fuel exiting out of the chamber before it gets a chance to burn.

Yes it will still shoot teh flamez. If/when you tune the flames will be greatly reduced though.
