broke 5 cutting disks trying to cut the first one off, so went back to the wrench, managed to fine a point that it would still grip, and wacked at the wrench with a hammer, and it broke loose!

Of course, it won't unthread the whole way, because the thread is damaged at the tip of the bolt, but that isn't a big deal at this point. Working on the other 2 the same "impact wrench hammer" method...

errrg...torque isn't a problem now, but the torque is deforming the nuts before they break loose. Soaking those things in WD40 atm.

2 left, 3.5hrs till dark and the temp plummets.

Started at 9am this morning. 3 bolts in 4 hours isn't very quick.

Yeah, it was my oldest ratchet anyway, not crying about it.

Starting to get tempted to wait till tomorrow morning and drive it around the corner to a garage and pay them like $20 to put it on a lift and break the nuts loose. It would severely delay leaving on the trip, but...sigh

My neck is killing me, my *** is somewhere around 30 below 0, and my wrenches are deforming the nuts. The metal nuts on the car. Fortunately I have avoided having my nuts deformed by anything but cold.

Anyone know if there is a SAE wrench size that would better fit a 14mm nut than a 14mm wrench? The 14mm wrench has some play back and forth, and I know it's part of the problem. I go to sockets, but the angles there are more at a disadvantage, and I only have 1 ratchet left now.

I lifted the cat all the way up for this job for Beyer leverage. I founded way easier to get right to the bolt.

Rolf, actually, yes, I have an impact wrench, air tank, air compressor, hoses, etc..

But when I went to use it this morning, it just vented all 90psi out of the wrench handle. I think something broke with it. Couldn't get the socket to actually turn, even without resistance.

Go figure.

I just got another nut loose, taking a recovery break to get it off the rest of the way and back to wacking on the last one.

I feel like I'm running a marathon here.

I'm putting anti-sieze on the bolts I put in on the midpipe, and when I Get my cat replacement from the dealer, I'm coming home and pulling out each one and putting anti-sieze on those too.

Being Christmas is being a pain right now, nothing open to go get a new impact wrench, or better wrench, or blow torch, or ...
