Rim damage and bent suspension components sound like they would be the most likely to have occured. I'd compare left to right and look for anything bent. Alot of those pieces are easier to change than it would seem, and individually not as expensive as it would seem.

rims aren't damaged. how would I notice suspension components being damaged? It wasn't a large curb and I'm more worried about drive train.

It would have to have been a really hard hit to damage powertrain, other stuff breaks before that except on rare occasions, and this doesn't sound like it was a hard hit. A rear axle bent or hit is probably the extend of the drivetrain potential damage. That would be easy to check, since it should be straight and smooth.. If it bent it wouldn't be ...straight Probably with a crease in it.

The best way to check suspension components, like the tie rods, is to compare left to right, since your right should be perfectly fine since it didn't go over anything.

you might. Anything severely bent will either introduce a vibration when driving that seems to be attached to speed, or else change your turning ability. Either through making it harder to turn one way, easier to turn one way, easier to turn one way AND harder to turn the other, the tires seems to hook up better on one direction of turn vs the other. This turning change would not seems balanced and equal left to right any more. Exactly how could be just about anything, so keep an open mind on what to look for (though don't let your mind start seeing ghosts).

Less severe damage likely wouldn't change much, if anything, if there isn't a vibration, although it could certainly weaken the component, and another hit or high stress situations (like canyon carving), could cause it to fail completely.

I had that happen twice before, both times the air humidity was 150% or something, sheets of water just condensing on everything. Inside of my windshield looked like I turned a hose on it, etc... Everything was sweating like crazy. I expect that each time it was condensation causing a short somewhere, even if briefly. Humidity might not be your issue, but you might have a short somewhere.

Interesting, it was a chilly night but I don't remember any condensation. It happened to me right at the end of a 3rd gear pull on the freeway
