I don't really eat much oriental food... besides Japanese.
I remember back in the day when I had money, I'd go to sushi-ya's, shabu shabu shops, and ramen houses all the time. I miss those days...
I think I would spend about a hundred bucks a week in Japanese cuisines.
I went here with my gf on valentines day

life changing experience
most expensive meal of my life... ever
I have no idea how yelp rated it as $$$, unless you barely eat anything.

Ah, you like to go to those kinda restaurants... I'm more of a back-alley sushi kinda guy. I go to restaurants that not many people have reviewed or go to but some of the stuff they have tastes helluva lot better than the fancy ones. They're all about presentation...
but when it just comes down to quality of the fish, back alley places just can't compare. at least I haven't found one personally.
not many average price sushi places will have real quality otoro/chutoro, or at least where I've gone.
This place's tuna was marbleized like top quality meat!
Ever heard of a restaurant called Ichi Teriyaki Roll? They're my favorite sushi-ya... the only down part is that they don't serve alcohol.
My second favorite is a place called Yuki Sushi who opened up about a year ago. I was one of their first few customers and the owner is very nice, she gives me free rolls because I'm always a returning customer.

I still stand by my two favorite places though.

its not a bad thing, or not really..
but its just so disapointing to go to place that has terrible food with heinous prices.
its a terrible eating experience.
