Rival - I suggest start them at softest, drive aggressive, move them to most aggressive, drive aggressive, note the differences (bump steer if you're too low without adjustable endlinks, understeer if the front rear bias isn't correct, etc) and tune accordingly. I say next mod be sways, sways + coils make the rx8 1000000x more predictable/flat in the turns!

Rival - yeah, bump steer happens when your sways aren't properly parallel to the ground and/or are not properly leveled out (you'll see when you drop your car, the connection points drop). Makes the car "hoppy" in turns and very unsettled if bumps are present in turns.
I just was giving an example of a certain thing that can arise from setting the dampers in a certain manner. Softer rears and harder fronts will cause understeer but it is also dependent of how low your front/rear is (weight ratio between F and R plays in here, why some corner balance). Play around with the settings and you'll learn which adjustments best suit your driving style.
