dude.. your zombie plan is full of fail... heres mine use it as a starting point for creativity..
here's my zombie plan I have put allot of thought into this.. drive out to Montana with 8 hot chicks that I know and 7 military buddies and I will collect some chemists and geologists but I will always have an equal male female ratio..
on our way out we stop off at the gun shop and take the owner with us in exchange for all his .45's and M4 carbines hunting rifles shotguns and all the ammo he has. there will be a Yaris for every 3 people black on black tinted headlights and tail lights night runners.
when we get to the middle of no where Montana we leave the girls at the site. The boys take two cars and head over to home depot we pick up digging equipment, soil, construction materials and two rental trucks.
we then start construction building an underground compound, as its being built the women are starting to work the garden area and start planting seed and fertilizing. once everything is finished we take the rental trucks back to home depot and pick up drums for fuel storage we get tons of fuel stabilizer get all the gas we can fill the drums with. we then start working on a windmill project for power and get home furnishings and bathing materials.
As time goes on we start a commune and live happily ever after..
The End

hmmm, i have defintely gave that some consideration, however, my recent movie watching experience has told me otherwise. as awesome as an underground colony sounds, there has to be a certain point whne supplies come down to a minimum and a return to the surface would be necessary, correct?
at which point, depending on how long the duration of hte underground stay, supplies on the surface would have to come to minimum, and thus, you must search endlessly. this is because of the mass panic from people, w/o a zombie plan, and zombies devouring everything...
if its come to the end then it comes to and. i'd much rather go out with guns blazing, then live life underground where the sun don't shine.
not that i look to become a hero or anyone's savior, just wanna have some fun, if it becomes the end.

well then in that case, you defintely have a compelling argument.
now you it just come's down to time. if an outbreak occurs, that results in a zombie takeover then how long will it take to get this isolated community together...

My plan follows similar to Shady's however it includes retreating to an underground location some where near the seattle boarder of canada. My plan is to stay close to the pacific for 'just in case' purposes.
The head count will be smaller - ranging between 6 to 8 people total. I don't want to work within a large group as to not put anybody else at risk. Small groups tend to travel better.
My major concern will be water and the wildlife. Our chemist and botanist will need to be on top of things as much as possible - constantly testing for infection - and we will periodically catch stray animals and determine contamination.

well it all depends on traffic and public awareness. I will plan a route out in the event of traffic congestion through the mountains. I believe I can get almost to the border of CA and NV via mountain roads. once I get to Nevada I'm home free no one lives in the middle and I can make my way north.
Generally from all the movies Ive seen and other outbreaks in real life.. if a zombie attack was coming the media would be all over it, people would go through these stages curiosity, fear, panic. I figure I have a window of 10 hours before everything gets crazy and public awareness would reach its peak in about 13 hours. It would take me about 4 hours to rendezvous with the team and go over assignments and responsibilities. It would take around 2 hours to get out of the greater la area and into the mountains. By the time chaos hits we should be long gone.
