Just a halfassed guess when I learned the intervals are 7500 as well. Spirited driving calls for 5000 intervals, though.

My thought was always that the car drinks oil, thus new oil is always being added. What the recommended intervals reflect are filter replacements, more than anything else.

true... but also depends on the filter your using depends on when it should be replaced.
