the more things change
but the question is do they take lunch out of your check.
i bet if you went back and looked, you would see shorter
hours then you actually worked. the reason they would
have to that is simple. they would get a huge fine from the
state for not letting you take a lunch. so even tho your
working thru on your on accord they have to legally show
you took a lunch

No they dont take lunches out of my check. I made sure to check that. On normal business hours I get a 30min lunch and only work 10-7 that one sunday is for the car show. And 30mins is just a time for you to leave your desk. You can take as long as you want eating your lunch, some ppl take tyheir time at thier desk. Also we do not have to drive out to get lunch, we have a calender with diff places to eat a day, and they go order it. So you just pay for your meal and come lunch time its already there in front of you.

Every 5 hours an employee must take a paid 10 min break. Anything over 5 hours an employee must take an un-paid lunch break if that employees work day will exceed 7 hours that employees lunch must be 1 hour. any hours worked over 8 in one period will count towards overtime. Anything less than that you can sue.
That's not verbatim but I used to be a manager and we would get chewed the F out if we didn't make sure all employees followed those guidelines.
Some people aren't as strict about it like in sales. but you totally could have a bishin lawsuit there.
there should be an updated charts of wages and workers comp posted in your workplace, you might want to glance at it.

LOL... Sounds like your HR department needs to get some updated handbooks, I'm pretty sure they haven't updated them since 1970.
