Rory: yeah, I gotta take it easy, we've got our next game on Tuesday.
Luckily the GF is a Massage Therapist so I'm going in to see here tomorrow to get a massage and have my chiropractor adjust me. That should help a bit.
I really want to hit the batting cages before our next game but I don't think that's a good idea as I'll probably re-aggrevate the injury.
Stretching has been a problem for our team now that you mention it. The problem is most of guys on the team work till about 5 or so and then they're scrammbling to get to the game (6:30 start) so they're not stretching out properly.
Hell, yesterday alone we lost two players to muscle pulls.
I try and get there at least 30-40 minutes early to get warmed up but some guys just can't get there that early.

sephy: as long as you don't do what one of my teammates did last night which was to RUN at me full speed, leap in the air and give me a hug after we got the last out last night. This girl damn near KILLED me when I hugged her. She's a pettite thing but my back is all messed up and when I caught here, we were about 2 seconds away from going Man - DOWN.

I played an entire season of basketball with the meniscus completely torn out of my knee and a slight tear in my MCL.

Jorge: You guys can't push the game back to 7pm or so? If there is one thing I have learned from all my years of sports, it is that stretching before and after you workout/game/meet/etc... is crucial.

jedi have u tried running laps and getting ur body temp up before stretching.
your muscles are like a rubber band (so my old thai boxing coach says) dont stretch when ur cold but when ur body temp is up u get a better stretch.

When I ran track in college, we would jog a mile warm-up before stretching.

Rory: wish we could but the league mandates the start times and we had the early game yesterday. There's a game after us so we can't hold the field for too long.
Shinka: one of my best friends is a retired Marine of 26 years. I didn't steal a thing.
Besides, we had a giant poster of that in the workout room at Long Beach State and even one in our weight room at my H.S. I've just always seen that slogan everywhere and thought it was pretty truthful.
I run out in the field for 15-20 minutes and then try to do a solid stretch routine for about 15-20 minutes afterwards so that as the game is starting my muscles are already warmed up. Last night didn't go as planned so I didn't get to warm up as much as I'd like to. Lesson learned, won't do that again. Your Thai coach is right though, that's exactly how one should treat stretching. I see guys doing 'cold stretches' and I cringe.
