Uh....why is that a bad thing? That means you're getting more of your money's worth based on your coverage. If the bill for a check up is $150 and co-pay is 15 bux, that's good, not bad. Co-pay means what you pay maximum out of your pocket.

Exactly, which is the whole point of the coverage. If the bill is more than what you owe on the co-pay then you get more worth and benefit out of it which is my point. Doesn't make sense to say "it sux they charge more than my co-pay", that's a wtfbbq there for me.
All bills technically speaking at an appointment are gonna be above the co-pay unless you got sucky coverage.

That's a lie

damn my copay is $500! jk
That's what I'm saying though it doesn't even make sense that they would try to charge ryan more than his copay. They will still get paid from his insurance, maybe not as fast as if he was stupid enough to pay them.
What kind of coverage is it ryan? PPO? HMO?

Show them your coverage, they can't do that if the co-pay covers it. If it's something outside a basic check up then likely you're entering co-insurance, different rules.
*EDIT* LOL nevermind my previous posts, I read what he wrote wrong. I thought he meant the bill was more than his co-pay even though he wouldn't have to pay over that and he was upset, that was a wtf there but now I see the insurance company is trying to make him pay more, my bad....
****...where is mah coffee.

Ok, but you stated they're trying to charge you more than the 70, right? If no then what you stated before didn't make sense.
If yes, then what is it for, check up? If so, they can't (insurance company) nor the doctor's office charge you more when you show them your insurance card since all plans state on their brochure their coverage. Co-insurance is one thing, co-pay means a fixed amount you pay for the service, you owe nothing more.

Just be glad you have that option, My company just switched over to a high deductable plan, and an HSA, the PPO would've cost more, so now I have to pay for everything up to $1500 for the year, after that the company covers everything...
you really learn how expensive tests and procedures are when you have to pay for them yourself lol
and what procedure/test did you have done Ry? $70 sounds a bit steep...

HMO (no homo) actually from what I've seen offer the best of all worlds for coverage for what you pay. Sadly, after this year my company is removing it so I have to go with PPO or HSA, or a few other options but none as good as HMO.
