Zumn: Damn man, sorry to hear about the situation with the car.
you wanna get a replacement from Mazda?
Step 1: Stop being down about this. I'm serious, if you want our help we can give it but you gotta want to help yourself more then we do. No sense getting down and Emo about this, it's time to take action

- What were the dates on those invoices that list synthetic? What grade oil was the synthetic? What brand oil was the synthetic?

Do you have your original Owner's Manual?
I know there were a few changes made after the 2004 version but seeing as how Mazda never issued any ammendments to the '04, you've got a chance here to stick it to them.
Mazda is HOPING you will roll over and accept this. MNAO is still replacing a ton of engines these days and I'm sure they're looking at just about any opportunity to deny another warranty claim (also to minnimize the number of engine replacements)

Were all the oil changes after those two done with conventional oil?
is that documneted?
I have Pm'ed Eazy and Gregs about the situation and to see what my options or what path I should take now. I want to help myself I really do.

The dates were back in 2005 @ 1000 miles and @ 5000 miles. I bought my car in September 2005 with 500 miles from the dealer so I decided to change the oil after 500 miles of use because being a 2004, who knows how long the oil has been sitting and what not. The oil used in the oil changes were Castrol Synthetic 5-20. Yes I do have my original Owners Manual (white with a blue colored RX8). I havent signed any release form from the dealer yet. I aggree with you in the fact that MAZDA hopes I rollover and accept the DENIAL. All the oil changes after were done with conventional oil and it is documented. My Jiffy Lube documents even state when I went in for Top-Offs.

Thanks JEDI.

you need to escalate this to the Service Manager, be calm be very precise.
again, as far as I can recall, the 2004 owner's manual makes no mention of the fact that synthetic is not allowed.

EVEN IF IT DID, that was when you first bought the car, you've probably had 15+ oil changes since then.
this is bullshit man, you'll be alright. you just need to keep insisting that this get escalated until someone LISTENS to your rebuttal and grants the warranty claim.

Thank You for the information Jedi, I will contact the Service Manager tomorrow morning. My local dealership just closed at 6p.m. You are right about the manual not stating any info about synthetic and about me having 15+ oil changes since then. Thank you again Jedi.

no problem Zumn, just don't want to see them walk all over ya.

ask them to explain how oil that was in there for only about 5,000 miles caused your engine to grenade what... 50? 60? 70,000 miles later?

Jedi: Currently on my car I have 75k miles or so. I will photocopy what you have suggested and yes I aggree that it will not cause the engine to take a dump like it did and yes none of my service records ever mentioned a leak of radiator fluid and/or a crack.'

Thanks Again Jedi

In a very calm fashion, tell mazda to SUCK ON THIS!

•SYNTEC can be used with confidence in every gasoline engine passenger car, new or old, regardless of oil previously used.

Next she mentioned that I got denied because In my first two oil changes the place I took my car to had put Synthetic without me knowing. After those two first oil changes I never ever again put synthetic. I even have proof (its in the paperwork). I let her know that. Then she kind of gave me an attitude and then said that the Tech had also found a crack in the radiator fluid tank and that "supposedly" thats the main reason that I got denied and the "synthetic fact" was just a side note (YEAH RIGHT) I know its because of those two synthetic oil changes that they are being picky....?.... I have never ever been leaking radiator fluid. I have never been low on radiator fluid or have never overheated before the day that my engine blew. I take my car to Jiffy Lube and they do like a 15-point inspection on it everytime. Im sure they would notice it and try to pick up on it to make some money or something. This is bullshit but what can I do? Not a damn thing right? Im kind of sitting in the dark now and dont really know where or what to do...I mean I know my options now, but im still puzzled. Very Dissapointing. Kind of makes me just want to give up on the whole "ROTARY" Factor, Ridiculous.
In our manual it does not say to "use regular 5-20 right"? even if it was synthetic 5-20...5-20 is 5-20.....If Im not mistake only the newer model RX8's manual states to not use synthetic?> Um, Help?
Unfortunately, those Jiffy Lube "inspections" are bullshit.

Had my girlfriend's Mkiii Supra oil change and got a full inspection - Everything was marked fine, including all lights functioning properly. Well, long story short, she didn't even have headlights in the car!

I highly doubt they would try to deny you based on oil choice. My dealership (Galpin) attempted to pass my car under warranty without any receipts whatsoever. The motor failed due to another reason, thus it wasn't covered, but I sincerely feel my tech advisor was fighting for me.

Isn't it your personal presumption that its due to the synthetic oil factor? You can argue until your face turns blue but if that is not the official reason given for denial of claim, it will mean nothing. You'll have to investigate what the "official" claim was, IE that cracked radiator reservoir. Unfortunately, perhaps it would be possible that piece cracked on the way home, thus allowing your motor to go?

Good luck on getting it all settled. If they do say it is based on the reservoir try filing an insurance claim, in some way. If you've got comprehensive, it may cover it, depending on how you pitch the issue. I got a motor with a *lifetime* warranty out of my insurance and at first I was displeased but now I am very optimistic. Either way, good luck, I know how it feels!

This happened on my friends rx8 (when he had it) and happened to mine a couple times about 10k miles ago.

I believe there is a TSB about it, or at least a known solution for the problem

It's the radiator light, correct?

Can't they suck on the fact that it is only recommended, not required, much like premium fuel?

Yeah, it's really unfortunate actually. I find myself wanting to run the CEs more on the vert than on the 8 at times! haha

I ended up not picking up those 50mm front fenders I was talking about, turned out to be tripoint reps (the 388 kit from raceonusa.com) and that **** is too wide for 18x10.5 +3 or even -2. Waiting on some local used fronts, I am going to end up with the b-magic/AIT rears as they're local and I know for a fact they will fit a 255/35 on that spec perfectly.
