Thanks to the Las Vegas Peeps!
I just wanted to put out a special "thank you" to a special someone in Las Vegas for the incredible gift they gave me during the "What Happens in Vegas" meet.
As many of you know, I repaint my car every year or so because of all the abuse the finish takes from the track time and long trips I take, including trips to Cali and Vegas to help out the RX-8 Club members in those towns. In fact, I had scheduled to repaint the car in August before SevenStock XIII.
But, there are many other items on the car that take a lot of abuse that are not so easy or economically feasible to replace or refinish on a regular basis. The windshield, headlights and all the other little nicks, chips, scratches and wear that pop up all over the vehicle would require a cash outlay to address that just doesn't make sense on a 7-year-old car.
Well, thanks to one of my more "obsessive" fans in Vegas who obviously care about and think about me and my car a LOT, I was able to finally get all of those items addressed at absolutely no cost and almost zero inconvenience.
I received all new paint on almost the entire car, along with two brand new headlights (those buggers can be over $1k apiece!), two brand new tires and all new window tint on all new glass from this very thoughtful, if not somewhat infatuated individual. I was also able to get the wear-marks on the trunk, sideskirts and spoiler addressed, as well as getting my new hood scoop/vent blended and painted.
I won't "out" this person because I understand that they wanted to stay anonymous and, because of their fervid fascination with all things MazdaManiac, would rather not be labeled a "fanbois" by the masses, but I did want to put out this public "thank you" so that they know that they are appreciated and that I wont ever forget this massive display of generosity. (I did get some really great pictures of you at work that I'd love to share, but I'll keep those to myself for obvious reasons!)
The new stuff came out perfectly - over $6000 worth of work - all for absolutely no cost to me at all and completed in just over one week after I received this wonderful gift.
I even got the opportunity to drive around in a brand-new Dodge Challenger while the work was completed, also at absolutely no cost.
In fact, once the work was completed, I had an extra $1500 in my pocket, though I have to admit I spent some of it on a set of new track wheels (gunmetal powder-coated Enkeis). The rest I kept for a "rainy day". lol
It is, honestly, a bit overwhelming to think that there is someone out there that is so into my everyday life and so consumed in their veneration for me that they would take to time and effort to deliver such a fantastic present. I feel so blessed.
So, to this special friend: Thank you! Rest assured that your generosity wont go unrewarded and I will do my best to return the favor ten-times-over in a very special way very soon!

I zoom therefore I am.
LOL
I heard about this from Ray and was wondering when you'd make a post.
Dear MM stalker, can you come out to Nor Cal at some point, I'd like free money and paint.

Best part was how easy and convenient the whole thing was.
After I got home from Vegas on Sunday evening (with absolutely no incident, difficulty or problems - we even took the twisty route around Searchlight!), I had a check in hand on Monday!
I probably could have had the whole thing done in just a few days, but I was having such a blast with the Challenger (and I am allowed to keep it up to 30 days at no charge) that I didn't want to give it back until I had sufficiently abused it!
lol
In this particular case, the combination of the Sahara's video and my GoPro mounted to the inside sunroof glass...

Christmas came early!
What's great about this little 'gift' you were given is that it never even broke your stride. Hell, just a few short hours after it happened, we were lounging in our penthouse suite drinking margaritas and laughing at the stupidity of this individual because in his mind he thought he'd 'ruined your weekend' or your car. haha, little did he know you brushed it off because you saw it for the gift it really was and we proceeded to have a great time in Vegas.
As for the pics / video of your little admirer. Isn't technology such a WONDERFUL thing?

Jeff, holy **** you made me laugh. Glad to see the car is done. I was a little angry and disappointed at what happened, but now I see how it all worked to your favor. I am glad God, our lord, savior, our salvation, creator, and BFF blessed you. I <3 God. lawls

I have to admit it made me sick to my stomach when I heard what happened, I didn't see it as you did, your a better man then I to do so.
I have to honestly say I kind of wish I had conformation if it was who was suspected, because while you may see the blessing in the generosity if they are in anyway affilated with SinCityRotary it will be made clear to them that they are not welcome and can move on as I know all of our folks were outraged and disgusted at such an act.
Well only briefly crossed pathes with you during the Vegas trip ya seemed like a nice enough guy but had no clue you had rockstar status or else I would have asked for an autograph
Take care perhaps we'll cross pathes at SS13

Good to hear man, you handled the whole thing very well. Your attitude about the matter after beers was hilarious and I am really glad it all worked out. I was truly impressed.
Car looks killer!! Are you done with the hood setup?
