CA is one of the states w/ the highest state income tax rates. We are also getting up there w/ sales tax as well. And, if the crazy politicians get their way, they'll increase the sales tax even more... (Remember the sales tax increase that was supposed to get reversed after the debts from the big SF quake were recovered? HA! Pipe dream that turned out to be... The state got their money back and never repealed it.) And, to top things off, if that moronic loser Angelides ever gets elected, be prepared to pay even more taxes- most notably doubling our vehicle registration fees, income taxes for people who make more than $100K a year, free drivers licenses to all illegals, and the list goes on. As for Hollyweird, LA has many places to live. Anywhere you need to get to nowadays is like a 30 to 45 minute drive w/o traffic regardless- up to an hour to an hour & a half in traffic... I think that if you are adverse to traffic, LA may not be the place for you... But, there are many nice things about LA. You can go snowboarding and surfing in the same day- if you wanted to. Some of the best international food you can get anywhere in the world. And, as you noticed, it's only a 6 hour flight to Hawaii...
