awsome, see you guys there. i just checked the whether forecast and there is NO rain in it anymore. i'll be in a blue s2k probably parked by the garage.

We had a good time at SOW today. Counter-clockwise is pretty fun. It really makes the bowl exciting when you're entering at almost 100mph.

We all had transponders and I think we had a good showing given that we're just lame autoxers:

ULLLOSE - 1:28.3
Tom (RX7TT) - 1:30.6
mp5 - 1:31.0
Bob (z06) - 1:31.x

Here's a pic of Bob on track. Don't have any RX8s in action since it's kinda hard to take pics while driving.

It was nice to meet you. Yeah it was a fun event but I think I will pass on future events.... Not much fun getting held up in the turns by slow drivers because a stock RX8 has nothing on the straits. Only getting two or three clean fast laps without traffic makes it hard to justify the time and money. I also miss the lack of direct competition, having the timing was cool, but for the most part it was just like a day at the go-kart track.

The Time Attack event sounds cool but the rules are to far out of line with SCCA natl solo rules for me to run my car competitively in any of the Redline classes without major work. So I guess I am just going to have to live with cones.

The Redline guys did a good job, everything moved smoothly and we got lots of track time. I would recommend anyone wanting to try an open track on an easy, relatively safe, track to run the SOW CCW.

p.s. off the track appears to be soft dirt with lots of runoff room, but you will have to ask mp5 about that.

I found the dirt to be quite comfy. It's the big *** rocks in it that are a bitch.

BTW ketsup, just so everyone knows, did the words "national champion" come up when ULLLOSE introduced himself? The new helmet must be an XXL.

Pretty good times. Was the track clean or dirty?

There were so many rocks on the track when I went my windshield is pitted and I have several chips in the paint.

It was different every lap, just depends on how bad the other guys in the group were, there were a lot of offs. In the first heat I did not push hard, it was like 37 out and the track was slick, so I just ran 3rd gear in every turn and learned the track. There was also an oil down at the end of the 4th heat. I was surprised in heat 5 with a passenger and oil dry on the track I still did a 1.29.

You know after the main straight you turn left and go through the S'ss?

On every heat someone would hit the cone and it would be in the middle of the track.

It was like an Auto cross through the S. Fast crank hard. That cone was always in the way. And people kept on hitting it but it would stay in the middle of the S.

We had that, I think mp5 hit it. It was only in the way for a few laps and then someone hit it again and it was out of the way. About half the time you came off the skidpad there would be dirt in one of the turns as people would put two off. Funny how the most popular spots to go off were the two slowest turns.
