I understand that everyone here goes crazy over a skyline, however when your stationed in Okinawa for 3 years and you see them everywhere and own one for only $3000 they seem to lose their luster. Since I have been here in the states and have several Marines and Navy friends bringing them back I kind of wish I would have had the money to bring mine back. But I have heard that its more drama having one here in the states. Getting them registered and getting work done to them when something breaks down is like a nightmare.

^^ i feel the same of M3's since being in europe, though there are not the importing issues with them, they are considered the **** of the Autobahn's - they're everywhere

In Okinawa owning a skyline is like owning a Civic here, they are everywhere and cheap. there was a saying on a shirt that a local was wearing and when I asked he said it was "Skylines are like tampons, every ***** needs one" The cars their that were the big boys on the block were the M3, Supra, and their version on the Evo/STI.
As for shipping them back to the states you have to tear them down, cover them with some other product or tear them down and ship them as parts. Then ship it to canada and have them put it back together and register it in a state where they dont have to be smogged like Oregon. Thats what one of my Marines had to do. That was all after having to pay $30,000 to a shipping company to get it through customs and bring it here. It would have been only 15k to get it here but the first company he went throuh went out of business and left it in the Bahamas for 6 months.
