I plan to leave in the evening on 2/21 and will be in San Fran on 2/22.
I cleaned up the engine bay over the weekend. Removed the insulation and wiped it down. I have 1 minor exterior mod that I will mount later this week. Should get it from the painter today or tomorrow. Engine wise I need to reroute a hose but will do that the day of the dyno. I have an oil filter reloc kit but will probably wait until the next oil change to install it.

Wish to participate in So Cal Dyno Day
Any chance I can participate if someone cancells? I work in Gardena so this would work well. I was not planning on attending because I was pleased with the first tune that I got after 2 months of waiting but now I am well over 2 months waiting for the second tune and I am starting to think that participating in this event is the only way I will ever get my second and third tune before I wear out the car. I will be there one way or the other to discuss my experience with the custom tuning service with Jeff and try to come up with a plan to get my car tuned since this is my third and final year of ownership based on the high milage that i drive.
It sure would be nice to get on the Dyno and get tuned. Alternatively I would be just as happy to recieve my second tune and a commitment to finish this process up in a reasonable time.
So how about it? Can I get in or at least wait listed?

Canyonman: Saturday is completely booked as is Sunday.
pending a mechanical failure or unforseen circumstances, I don't see anyone dropping off but you are welcome to come by Sunday and see if a spot opens up.
There is currently one member ahead of you on any potential wait list so 2 people would need to drop off (or 1 FI car) for your car to make it in the rollers.
As far as the tuning: did you get a reply back with 'received' on your last submission?
Did you check your folder on MM's website for the new tune? If I remember correctly, he doesn't email the maps anymore, they're uploaded onto his site for users to download once completed.
Either way, come on down and enjoy the show.

Just 1 more thing to be **** about when cleaning the car
When I removed the padding from the hood the paint was not all black. The center looked like it was primer gray so not sure what is going on. Anyway I put the padding back on.

Tune
Jedi,
Thanks for the invite. I have checked the website every day since Dec 10 and emailed Todd weekly for a month because in the email Jeff said that the next cal would come in 10 business days. I am looking forward to discussing this process with Jeff and determing a path forward so of course i will come down. If there are cancellations please lock me in for the #2 spot on the waiting list.
Thanks

You'd be surprised how much mazda skimped out on painting the engine bay for use with black... it annoys the heck out of me. lol

11 days to go!
Now's the time to make sure you have your supplies ready:
1. Beverages (water, soda, etc). Having a little cooler isnt a bad idea.
2. Folding chair. There are not a lot of places to sit at SR.
3. Snacks.
4. Sun screen
5. Money. Make sure you bring the money for SR with you, trust me, i know.
Make sure your car is in good working order. Oil is freshly changed, plugs are within factory recommended lifespan (at the very least), coolant is full. This is your last weekend to either take it to your mechanic for a once over or do it yourself.
I would strongly recommend you bring a quart of whatever oil you use with you. I'm not one of those guys who normally has a quart in my trunk since most of my normal driving is withing 20 miles of my house, but for the dyno day I bring one. You don't want to be doing your pre dyno flight check and find you're down on oil.
Make sure your cooling system is working well. Dyno pulls are a big stress on any engine and a poorly working cooling system will show it's ugly head during one. Noticing a sweet sticky smell after a hard drive? Seeing a puddle under your car even when you haven't used your AC? Get it checked.
This is more of a personal thing for me but I'm still throwing it out there. Clean out your car. Even if you have the most stock rx8 at the meet, people are still going to be looking at it, Jeff is going to be sitting in it, and people will be taking pictures/video/live streams of it. Do you really want the box of tucks medicated wipes to be left on your floor? A garbage bag and vacuum will do wonders.
See you all in 11 days!

Laythor beat me to it, I was about to post something similar about being ready and having your car ready for this event.
Nicely written advice below, one thing I would add to it is
- Bring your camera!
you don't want to kicking yourself the day of that you can't take a picture of some of the HOTTEST RX-8's that this community has to offer.
And as for the 'having your car clean' part, remember: we will have a Professional Photographer there next weekend so be prepared.
