Tell me about Living in the Las Vegas/Henderson area.
Where are the good places to live and why?
How hot and cold does it really get?
What are must's for living in the area? (as opposed to turista stuff).

30 - 120 is temp range
Green Valley and Summerlin are really nice places to live. Southern Highlands is really nice to but its a bitch to get there, really only a couple complete roads headed to that side of town with construction going on. Theres another master planned community on the North side of town but the name eludes me atm.
Locals pretty much stay away from the strip; its almost a completely different town.
Red Rock loop is pretty awesome for a late afternoon drive (3 or 4pmish) after the sun is behind the mountains. Lee Canyon is about a 45 minute drive North if you like skying (although it blows compared to Ski places).

Green Valley & Anthem are one of the most nicest places in Vegas. Southern Highlands is very nice too, but like AvitalBlue8 said its a bitch getting there with not many streets. But, to live in those places you gotta have $$. N. Las Vegas is not a part you wanna live at, crime has increased in that area bad. Also, it gets increadibly hot, especially the humidity. Other than that, Vegas is a beautiful place to live at.

I personally live in summerlin so i'm a bit biased, plus we are closer to the loop. Roads in summerlin are almost all 3 lanes wide and smooth. Roads in Anthem have lots and lots of elevation change and not that wide....although it can be quite fun driving around there briskly untill you come upon a wet road around a blind turn =p

I'm just on the cusp of Summerlin, near Sienna. Drive the round-a-bouts on Town Center four times a day. The best part of the drive is if I can take the Hualipai roundie from the center lane with no traffic coming. The worst part of the drive is the same round-a-bouts when other people are in them. I couldn't believe I had an ambulance, of all things, on the outside lane the other day cut me off and continue going around the circle while I was on the inside and continuing straight down Town Center to Covington Cross.
