I was going to go.
I've started thinking about the Borla Exhaust system lately and I wanted to chat about it. I think foodiedave was planning on getting one, and I'd love to see and hear it in person.

Sorry I couldn't make it. I had a meeting that lasted until after 7:00 and my RX-8 had the yellow check engine light go on this weekend, so I have to take in to the dealer to check it out. I'm trying to get them to also fix the oil pan baffle problem, but the service guy talks about having to diagnose the problem. This is problem only shows up on high speeds over long periods driving. How will they recreate the problem? Just replace the oil pan.

Sorry, but I can't make it this week as well.
I need to come up with a new name. The '8 is in the shop getting a new oil pan. I also had a check engine light that needed to be checked and a problem with the A/C.

I won't be there tonight, either. My car's in the shop getting the rotary accents installed (they were supposed to be installed at the factory, but I guess they ran out of parts.)
My car has also been slowly leaking engine coolant... a bad sign judging from other posts on the site (i.e. grounds for engine replacement.)

ectomort, what's your build number?
I'm playing with the idea of creating a DB for the club with relevant info about the owner and their cars anyone interested?
Also I would like to have a brainstorming session with some people to get this club fully up and running

Hey guys!
I think I saw you at the round table tonight. I stopped off to get a lottery ticket at my usual liquor store, right next to the Round Table on Mary. I saw two RX-8's parked side by side in the parking lot and I thought there must be something going on. So I got online and sure enough, it looks like there was.
Maybe one of these days I'll join you guys.

Hope to see everyone this Tuesday, Nov. 18., at 7:00 PM at Round Table in Sunnyvale. We will be discussing the formation of the NorCal RX-8 Club.

I might be able to attend tonight but I do plan on joining the club. My car is in Santa Cruz getting a new engine and I'm expecting to pick her up tonight. That said, getting home to San Francisco with a virgin engine early enough to watch The Two Towers:Extended Edition tonight is my priority.

I'll be there.
Ecto sorry to hear about the engine, but I think Mazda has solved the early problems. How did it fail? It makes me cautious about taking long trips until I know I'm past the early failure mechanism. Having been in the chip business, I know how these problems happen. It's called infant mortality.

Getting the engine replaced doesn't actually bother me much. (The fact that they washed the car when I repeatedly emphasized that it was not to be washed sent me ballistic, but that's another gory story.)
It didn't actually fail (it was performing normally, AFAIK.) I noticed drops of what appeared to be coolant under the car in my garage and asked my dealership to check out the cause when I took the car in to have my front and rear rotary accents installed (they were supposed to have been installed at the factory.) The mechanic diagnosed the problem as "coolant leak at rear rotor housing at stationary gear housing" and pulled the engine. It took 8 days to get the car back (3 of which were spent waiting for the engine to arrive.)
So, what happened at the meeting?

Hey, way to go Sunnyvalers (sunnyvalians?) I think you've got the most active owners group on the web. I'm down in San Diego, but grew up in Sunnyvale. In fact, I lived on Mary Ave. right across from Mango Jr High and went to Fremont High. Any old-time Sunnyvale natives there?
