I went out to Infineon Sunday and took a Jim Russell class where I got to use my 8. First half of the day was drills learning the limits of the car, second half was on the track. I was paired up with a Porsche Cayman, I'm damn proud of my fully stock 8. She hung in there and didn't get dropped. Plus the these cars handle awesome in the rain (only bummer about the track time). If you ever get the chance, fully worth the money!!!

I talked with the sales guy, Glen, this morning, after completing the full day course former students get to drop in, if capacity permits, for the track portion of the course for only $250 it lasts from about 1:30 to 4. Not bad when the track bug starts biting hard enough.

I see you have a bunch of mods, you run into any issues with SMOG testing, or you return to stock for the tests?

I have never been to the track yet I was going to go 2sundays ago but my friend flaked out(pissed me off) but I would want to see what I can do 1/4 mile with the nitrous on but backfire is always in the back of my mind

Its a fun and challenging, I've been on it twice now 1st time in an Audi A4 (their car) and last Sunday in my 8, there are two corners the sneak up on you pretty fast that are over a rise. The Wed night thing sounds cool that Sebtown is talking about. If either of you head out drop me a note and if I can I will for sure meet you out there.

I passed smog like a champ with all those except the Zex installed, so RP supercat works great.

Good to know. Did you have to revert the ECU to stock? I have a few years till SMOG check. I just did my first step with the Cobb and MM's Base Cali map today, part 2 tomorrow and then the calibration runs on Sat. before sending the log off to Jeff. Can't wait to see if it really adds some power.

Next on the list is suspension, Tanabe Seven coilovers w/ TEAS. Scary money for that one, but figure if I'm going to do it, do it right...

Damn thats good to know, with Zex kit you only have to pull the bottle to pass smog is that right? Cuz I think I might have to get smoged in 09.

Yes, here's the link if you want to check them out...

http://www.tanabe-usa.com/coilovers/seven.asp

Adding the TEAS in to as I drive a mix of road conditions and depending when the "misbehaving" mood hits, I can tighter it down and let it rip on the fly!!!

Should add I'm a gadget freak too and this whole setup is my style. Check out the part about the tie-in with the speed sensor, I'm hooked...

I know nothing about Nitrous Systems other than from Hollywood, it really give you a kick like they portray it?

I'm going to have McLea's put them in. Thinking of doing big breaks at the same time.

Anyone have suggestions/experience with any break kits?

i would say as far as brakes the big brake kit is not really worth it on the rx8 unless your going for looks, our calipers are very strong and can hold track days quite nice, but i would suggest changing the rotors and pads i bought these and love them. http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/61A3068A0A0.aspx
http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/61A3071A0A0.aspx

umm for the 65 vs the 55 i'd say its not like WOW huge difference but your like hmm alright thats more, and logs proved it along with cobbs 0-60 test so yeah i'd recommend getting Nitrous, running the 55 is beyond safe and easy as hell to install. o and did i mention the purge kits are beyond fun, just sitting there at a stop light and some punk pulls up i usually laugh when they rev, so i give it a nice cloud of gas usually shuts them up quite fast then the whole; omg!?!?!?! is that FAST AND THE FURIOUS NOS stuff?!?!?!?!

i've got the duel purge kit, a bottle heater isn't really worth it since we are running a shot under like 150. but yeah the duel purge kit is sick, you can buy longer tubes and route them farther than what it comes with. maybe dono bout that but i'm trying to find some so i can have one farther away. i still gotta get a maximizer kit and a pressure gauge. really need a pressure gauge. PINA not knowing how much lbs i have.

Ya a pressure gauge is great to have the heater will help out especially in cold weather like this. What I do is get a blanket put it in the dryer for like 45mins then put it on the bottle and it will rasie the pressure about 100lbs. And I'm also getting some gauges I think I might go with glow shift but I really want all digital gauges but a digial nitrous pressure gauge is bank like 200+bucks damnnnn!!!

o wow might be because i;m 7 shots of tanqueray in but yeah its pretty cold here no lies and like i just filled my tank and kept it close then opened it, left it open over night and closed it. purged it and when i opened it it was sooooooo cold out like 39* where i live in sebastopol and the tank had frost when i opened it no joke. (this is before i bondoed (don-doe) the hole from the nitrous line. hasn't happened since. but yeah i looked at the ditigal gauge was fuccking sick but way to $$. anywho i'm going to try that heater blanket thing great idea gonna try it tomorrow. o btw i dont have a pressure gauge of course so like does it get really really pressurized or what i'm probably like 8lbs out of 10 atm forgot i was having some fun with the purge. dude they kick *** get one you wont regret it just when some1 looks at you just a lil squirt ahahhahahah and they are like WTF and roll down the windown and wave for you to do the same. but yeah gonna do that heat thing hopefully it dont go booooom.

Sebtown thanks for the heads up on the brake kit... as I started looking at the cost I was blown away, the stock brakes worked pretty good at the track... guess I was getting mod crazy there for a minute.

Ya big brake kits are way to $$$. but those rotors i linked and those pads are badass, and they look nice too. really a huge difference i felt a real BITE on the brakes instead of just trying to hold on stopping. if you understand that lol.

Sebtown, those Unorthodox pulley's make any difference, reading through the postings it looks to be a 50/50% split out there of opinions....

Logic would seem to make sense to reduce rotational weight, I come from being a bicycle racer and triathlete, so I was always playing the weight game... I find it interesting that its in the motor sports world too. As soon as I learned about carbon fiber car parts I was drooling, that's what I raced on.

Ya there is a difference, it underdrives the car like 15% or something but still i put it on myself its easy ( if you have air tools) and it adds more head jerk for sure. was worth it for sure. headers umm no wasn't worth it cause i had to get it re surfaced after they had installed it so they had to pull it off and do the work and do it all over again.. i'd have to say if you dont have many mods for for the pulleys they are easy to install and you'll be happy, + they are much nicer looking. (flywheel and clutch from BHR and you'll be like wtf was i driving before ????) thats what i'm saving for after reading all the posts and info from SPEC.
also if you buy the pulleys and need help give me a shout out it took me like 20 mins no joke. i'll go for 10 this time.

Thanks for the offer to help. I think I should be fine, plus I have the RB REVi CAI coming too so I'll put them in at the same time so lots of room to work in there with the stock air box out.
