Who is interested in a track day at Thunderhill, Willows California

So for the last 2 years I have been going to Thunderhill raceway in Willows California for HPDE. I have done 6-7 track days now and seena total of 4 other RX8's. I am a little disipointed about this. I know other people attend but I guess I never see them.

So what I propose is we get a group togeather and all attend at the same time. I would like to see 10-15 cars or more.

I have found the best group to go with (for price and organization) is NCRC (Northen California Racing Club) http://www.ncracing.org/events.php

The price is $125 plus $10 if your not a member (membership cost $40)

UPDATE: The Novemeber price has been lowered to $99 plus $10 if your not a member

There are 5 different groups:
Race: Wheel to wheel racing, under "gentleman's rules" - no contact allowed
Open: Full track mandatory passing with no point-by
Point-By: Full track mandatory passing with point-by
Solo: Mandatory passing on straights with point-by, optional passing in some turns
Driving School:

Dates: I am looking at Friday September 25th 2009 and Friday November 6th 2009.

So if you are interested, complete the poll.

If I had money and I'm not tired, I'd be tracking my car all over the place.

Well the 25th is the day after my birthday and thats why i posted 2 options. I have considered going to sevenstock but had not made up my mind yet.

Maybe a track day before sevenstock is a great day. After the track, sleep for a few hours and caravan down, track numbers and tire debris still on the car.

well then, happy b-day!!!
you should join the Norcal caravan down here for the weekend. SS is a pretty fun event. (if anything the eye candy alone is worth it)

Alright, sorry...
back to the original topic at hand.

We need MORE RX-8's at the track!

Really, no one except me in northern california/sf bay area is interested in track days? Feel free to make other date or location recommendations. I just want to see people using their cars for what they do best. Mazda = Zoom Zoom, not Putt Putt around the street.

If anybody needs a set of tires for a track day, I have 2 sets of nitto nt-01's available. 1 set is for free 1/32nd of tread, the other are $400 with 5/32nd

The september date is Friday the 25th and willows is about 8 good hours of driving from SS, so in order to do both, you would have to leave the track at 4PM, drive about 4-5 hours to a hotel somewhere off I-5 around Los Gatos. Get some food and about 6 hours of sleep before getting up at 5AM and drive the last 4 hours, arriving in Anaheim around 9-10AM. Long few days but it would be so much fun.

I've never run w/ NCRC particularly but I'll keep the November date on my calendar and see how it goes (Sept date is def. a no-go schedulewise).

From what I can tell, NCRC is the cheepest organization. The cost is kept low because they dont feed you or give you shirts. For me that is fine, because I can buy a shirt from the gift store and I always make the 5 minute drive into town over lunch and get gas, so I usually just pick up a sandwhich while i am there.

They are also very organized and they dont overfill the track. Some groups will give you too much time and others not enough. I have been happy with NCRC. 2hours on the track is a good day.

Plenty of sports still open for Sepetember 25th, late entry cut off is September 4th. I want to go to this one but with my recent purchase of new race tires and race wheels I might not have room in my budget. I will be making November 6th for sure.

Common people, get exciting about driving.

So how many RX8 owners will I see on Nov 6th? If your interested and not signed up, the driving school , point by (my group) and open groups are still open. Only solo filled up. For just over $100 you can't find a better track day price.
