Any more updates on having tint jobs done by Raul?

I think I will be contacting him about doing my car this week as well (I work in Santa Ana).

Hey Rob, you may want to check-out this place in Anaheim.

http://www.xlnttint.com/

They use a machine that pre-cuts the tint to fit your window.
Machine cuts are much more accurate, and saves them time and labor.
Unfortunately, I got mine tinted somewhere else before I discovered these guys.
If I remember correctly, they were pretty reasonably priced.

I called Raul but never got a return phone call.

I wound up having the tint job done here locally in Riverside (Sun Down) and I am very happy with the results.

Will try to post pics before too long.

Just so everyone knows... Tinting your front windows or windshield is a MOVING VIOLATION in CA. Its treated just like a speeding ticket now and your insurance will go up.

Just an FYI because you can't get them signed off anymore.

you are correct in saying it is NOT a fix it ticket anymore

It is a fine of like 80 bucks and you must remove it

HOWEVER it is not a moving violation and wont hurt your insurance

What is your source? My dad is CHP and told me it is a moving violation.

It is absolutely NOT a moving violation.

Simple logic dictates otherwise.

Haha....

I just tinted all my windows two days ago.

Grrrreeaaaatt......

Will they still harass me about it even though I've got CO plates? Or will they harass me even more because of the plates?....

I'm guessing the later. ugh.

Tinted windows are generally illegal in CA. But NOT if you're sensitive to sunlight. You can actually have a doctor write you a prescription. Only catch is that you're not allowed to drive at night:

[ (10) Sun screening devices meeting the requirements of Section
26708.2 installed on the side windows on either side of the vehicle's
front seat, if the driver or a passenger in the front seat has in
his or her possession a letter or other document signed by a licensed
physician and surgeon certifying that the person must be shaded from
the sun due to a medical condition, or has in his or her possession
a letter or other document signed by a licensed optometrist
certifying that the person must be shaded from the sun due to a
visual condition. The devices authorized by this paragraph shall not
be used during darkness.]

Find a corrupt doctor, and you're cool. Either that or know a cop willing to write the ticket off. Ticket can be in the form of a fix-it or just a large fine. I've heard of both.

I have had 5% limo tint on all windows except the winshield and have only been stopped once. Know a cop in the family, so I didn't get a ticket

I was thinking of purchasing an extra pair of stock front windows when I do eventually get caught and switch them out back and forth. Might be a lot of work though...

I actually paid 250. They wanted 350 originally. But this was no "Mr. Tint". I got it down at a place with a solid reputation intentionally - California Concepts. It is worth the monie knowing that my tint won't bubble or peel off a couple months down the road. Had it on about a year now and not a bubble in sight
